My phone has died

O.k for the last couple of days my P800 has been coming up with currupt file messages when i tried to open same basic applications like the phone book and messages. Then when I was forced to reboot it came up with a corrupt internal file system message and reformatted itself. I restored a backup I had made a couple of days earlier and it worked fine for 24 hrs and then crapped out again. I have repeated this process several times now. Now when I turn it on it will only display the opening SE screen and nothing more.
I have read a few threads on firmware and it seems like I might have old firmware but I'm not sure. I have had the phone for just over 1 year and have not had it in any service centers since I had it so I can only assume this is so and the new firmware might fix my problems.
How can I check what fireware I have?
Where can I get the new firmware installed in London, UK? Preferably NW.
Will it cost me anything to install as my warranty has just expired? (Typical!)
Do you think my insurance might cover any costs and maybe replace a scratched screen?

A lot of questions I know but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Jamjars

Well, if there's a problem with the file manager you could try also an "absolute master reset" with the hidden menu (service menu), do some search about this issue and you'll find some ideas about how to proceed.

Good luck.

Ive gotten of my arse and went down to a Carphone Warehouse and they are doing the upgrade overnight. Cost me 30 cos it was out of warranty. Cheers anyway.
