is there an sms counter anywhere, or an option to save texts to outbox? couldnt see one

An sms counter? If you open the sms messages, you'll see how many messages that are in the folder (inbox, outbox etc.) don't you?
aint nuffink in my outbox, and i have sent a few honest. i assume there must be a setting somewhere that says save sent items etc?
Your sent items aren't in the outbox, but in "Send items". Outbox only holds SMS-es that aren't send yet!
what a muppet i am! yep, got em now. they arent very visible from the main sms view though

I've seen it, don't really get your problem. You can just set the alarm for an event to ring 10 minutes in advance of an appoitment or something now can't you...
true, but see what happens if you set the alarm like a day ahead...not so good! 😞
