updating orange firmware

hi guys

i have a couple of questions about updating firmware on my orange 6600.

  • basically i want to do this because i don't get sounds with games like colin mcrae rally 04 and rainbow six 3, both java games. i'm hoping that the firmware will fix this?

  • do carphone wharehouse do this for free, they're my nearest official nokia service centre. i don't know whether i am entitled to a free firmware upgrade or not?

  • everything i want to keep is on my mmc which i will remove for privacy reasons, will i be able to put it back in and have everything work as normal again?

thanks people, hope you can help!

Q1: Some java games do not play sound on 6600 but if you send the same file to an n-gage it will work perfectly,so a firmware upgrade may not be answer.

Q2: Usually you would get a free upgrade if you are in the first year.

Q3:Yes.

😊

a good way to make sure to get the newest firmware is to ask specifically for the one yuo want. i did the same w/ a orange 6600 and got the generic 4.09.1 took all the orange software off, but its the newest upgrade and is alot better than oranges newest software
