Why should I buy a series 80 phone instead of sticking to my series 60 one?

Could someone please tell me why I should get a series 80 phone. By this I mean I would like to know what Nokia have put into a series 80 phone that is so great. Also does it have better capabilities (graphically). Thanks. 😊

Well, since you've posted this in the gaming section, the first thing I should mention is that the 9500 (Series 80) has a 8-way navigation pad like the N-Gage/N-Gage QD, which is good for games. You also have a virtual mouse pointer.

The biggest differences between S60 and S80 is obviously the screen resolution. S80 has a screen width of 640 pixels which means it is excellent for web browsing etc. Which also brings up the other great advantage of S80 which is document viewing and editing, which btw is supported natively in S80. Not to mention messaging (e-mail, Fax, SMS etc.).

And of course there is the full QWERTY keyboard. S80 is more of a real business tool with much better PDA capabilities than S60 currently have. That's it really.

The older 9210(i) Communicator is a bit long in the tooth now (no GPRS, slow processor, low on RAM etc.), so I would rather advice you wait for the 9500 if you're interested in a Communicator type device.

Thanks Raven, so are there any s 80 phones better than the 9500 or do you think that is the one I should get, also I just heard about series 90 should I just get one of those instead thanks again. :icon14:

Nope, but it is very likely that Nokia will release more Communicator type devices in the not too distant future. But if they will be based on S80 or S90 or even the newer S60 versions with higher screen resolutions, who knows...

Good luck, hehe. 😊 There is no S90 device on the market at this time, nor have any been announced by Nokia. The 7700 was the first phone featuring S90, but it has been cancelled.
