Services application and access points

Okay, here's my issue:

I can use the Opera browser without a problem. However, that's not free, and I'd much prefer to use the built-in Services browser if possible. But, it seems that I can't: the Services browser won't let me choose an access point! I've got one defined via the N-Gage's connection settings, but Services won't recognize it. Even when I've created one via Services using the same settings, it won't even recognize THAT one! Has anyone else run into and/or overcome this problem?

Thanks in advance...

Well, that stinks on ice. :s:

What about email, or the N-Gage Arena? Do those require WAP-only points too?

No. Have your operator send you the settings for WAP or use the Online Settings Configurator here if you want to use the default browser. But I don't see why you would, it's a cr@ppy WAP browser and not a full WWW browser like Opera and NetFront etc.

I can't use either of those, as I don't have cellphone service. I only use my N-Gage for gaming and multimedia. 😉

Nokia is apparently in the process of developing an in-house "full" Internet browser, based on Opera and for integration into its future handsets and devices...

Series 60 release 2.1 in phones like 7610 and 6220 already has a "full" internet browser. It is not perfect, but it supports WAP 2.0/XHTML 1.0 and HTTP 1.1/HTML 4.01 and can be used with WAP and Internet Access Points to access WAP and web pages.

It is not based on Opera. In some regions Opera is still on the memory card at least with the 7610.

Can you download that "full" browser anywhere?

No. It is in the ROM of the 7610 or 6620 so you'd have to buy one of those phones instead, or wait for even newer phones like the 6260 or 6630.

I cant use opera for some reason but the internal browser allows you to access html just not very well. Usually runs out of memory before page loads
