PLS HELP MEEEEE!!!!!!!!
My phone has been stolen and after a week through FRIENDSTER i was able to pin point the exact location of the guy!!
Now, I will confront him in his house together with the police. The most reliable evidence is the IMEI in my cellphone!!
I think i have a big chance of getting it UNLESS he changed the IMEI.
Can the IMEI of 6600 be changed? Other nokia can according to NOKIA tech guy but i just want to make sure.
PLEASE OH MY GOD PLEASE HELP ME! THANKS IN A BILLION!! PLEASE I'M BEGGING! You can email me at . thank you
Hey,
Sorry to hear about your lose of phone.
Now the bad news.
I'm sure with the right equipment you could change the IMEI of the Nokia 6600. But as the operating system and phone is quite advanced compared to others it would require some serious bits of expensive kit and I doubt this guy will know, or has access to it. If so he'd have had enough money to buy his own!
Personally I have never heard anything on here or anywhere come to think of it and changing the IMEI is against the law(?) to my knowledge and is not well received on this forum.
The reasons are obvious for this, namely a stolen phone can be re-activated and a new identity given.
I hope you get your phone back or a replacement, if not ram it hard somewhere where the sun don't shine on this guy and give him a good kicking 😡
You may in the future if your worried about this again consider some of the security applications available.

changing the IMEI number in the UK is highly illegal, currently being cracked down on bigtime and can cost u up to 5 yrs in jail.
Most new phones are difficult to change the IMEI and most wont bother.
I don't know what nokia rep or service provider you talked to, but I tried to get my replacement phone switched to the original IMEI of the phone I returned and was told by both T-Mo USA and Nokia USA that it wasn't possible. T-Mo (for all the USA guys know said there was no physical way to do it). One thing that you have working for you and is worth considering is that you have bluetooth.
BT has a Media Access Code that IIRC that should be Unique to EVERY bluetooth device
this should be tied to your IMEI, I REALLY doubt the MAC can be changed w/o putting in a whole new unit. So you can either check your box, check any connection you had to your computer (it usually stores the MAC in property list somewhere as well as the common name for your phone), and check the vendors. That gives you one extra edge if someone did manage to change the IMEI

HEY GUYS!!! I RECOVERED THE PHONE LAST SATURDAY MORNING!!!
I didn't show the box of my 6600 becoz my idea in getting it is already successful.
Here's what I did:
1. I searched him thru friendster.
2. Upon seeing his page, I message one of his friend and we became friends for 1 week.
3. When the moment I felt that I got his friend's trust, I asked her if she knows this guy. She did knew the guy and luckily its her neighbor. Without even asking the girl, she said that this guy had showed his new 6600 to her.
4. Next day, saturday morning me and the police went to their house. At first there was a resistance, but I told him that I can send him to the jail if he will not bring back the phone to me.
5. He surrendered the unit.
Once again, i can access my 6600 website at http://my6600.cjb.net and view my 6600 pictures.

just a question...
how did you find the guy on Friendster??
