Hello, I have a ngage qd and i was wondering if you guys would tell me how to use bluetooth with a mac os x computer. Also say what you can do with it. Can you be connected to the computer with bluetooth and use the internet on the n gage, if so can you use the n gage arena thing and play online through bluetooth then the computer then to the internet. thanks :?

If I was one of the grouchy old-timers here, I'd probably post something about searching the forum archive 😊 , but as I'm in a good mood today...
My Mac has internal BT, so I can't vouch for any particular brand of dongle, but as I understand it, if it'll work with MacOS X, then as it'd be using the MacOS X BT stack, I don't see any obvious reason why it shouldn't talk to your QD as well (Of course, there may be non-obvious reasons, as always). Maybe another poster can recommend a particular dongle?
I'll assume you're running Panther (MacOS X 10.3), but I doubt it'll be all that different for older versions (although I dunno about N-Gage device support - you might have to download something).
There are a few things you can do with BT, but first of all, you have to pair the computer & the handset. Dunno if you've ever done this before, but it's trivial. Switch on your handset's BT (Under Tools/Bluetooth), make it visible to all, & then run the MacOS X BT Setup Assistant. Tell it that you're connecting a phone, & it'll lead you through the pairing step by step. It'll offer you the option of setting up synching of Mail, Contacts & Calendar as well - quite handy.
Once that's done. I find it useful for installing downloaded programs & copying files over to my N-Gage. If you've got a fast broadband connection for your Mac, you might as well download your software via the computer first, & then BT it over to your QD. It's dead easy - you just use the Mac's 'Send File' option under the BT menu, select the file & the device to send it to, & it'll turn up in the phone's Inbox. You can send multiple files in one transaction too - just select more than one file during the process. Note that unless you explicitly tell your N-Gage to always automatically accept a connection from your Mac, it'll ask for confirmation each time (you can set that up under the 'Paired devices' list in your N-Gage, if I remember correctly). Once the file's in your Inbox, you should be able to save/install/whatever. If you're not sure about this, I posted a couple of things here recently in another thread about software that'll help with that too.
Now, onto your question regarding slaving the computer to the N-Gage for a net connection. i'm not so sure about this. There was a program for the 92xx Communicators by Psiloc that let you do this - Extended Internet - but they don't appear to do it for Series 60 phones (which includes the N-Gage). Even if something similar exists, I would imagine that the Arena system would be expecting a connection via some sort of standardized Arena server protocol/ID, so I doubt it can be done, at least at present. Of course, if someone else in this forum is a coding demon, & fancies building an internet-Arena gateway, I'm sure a few folks might be interested. Of course, the network carriers might not be so happy about it, as it'd be another loss of possible revenue...
Finally, it's also possible to use your N-Gage as a BT modem over GSM, GPRS or HSCSD (this was actually the primary reason I bought my N-Gage - for use with my Powerbook). Setting this up is a bit more of a pain, & involves downloading some driver scripts from this site:
Ross Barkman's site (kudos to Ross!) also gives instructions on use, & things like the server information you'll need to make data calls. Note that you'll need to set up a new Access Point on the phone for this, as your usual WAP access point won't work. If you've managed to get Opera installed & running on your N-Gage, the access point used for that will work. FWIW, I've managed to get GSM, GPRS & HSCSD working with my 'classic' N-Gage & Ross's scripts.
As for other things you can do, well I haven't looked into re-routing voice phone calls to my Mac & other geeky fun stuff like that, but I'd imagine that there are posts on the forum that will be able to address the doability/viability of those sorts of things, so if you want to know about those sorts of things, <grouchy old-timer mode> I'd suggest you search the forum archive </grouch old-timer mode>.

Follow the instructions that come with the download, and you'll be all set. Make sure you use the Opera browser, though, as the N-Gage's built-in one will not work with Bluetooth.

Yep, it works fine on the original. That's what I'm using.
hoho. look maybe in google for the share2bt scripts.. Macupdate will help you. Nice scripts to share the connection of the mac with the 6600. one click and that's all
