Whenever I try to open a .ifo or .vob file from within SmartMovie I get an error message. Ok, so I rip the film using SmartRipper and I get a 4gig file on my desktop that SmartMovie can play properly (in preview mode-before encoding). I then try to encode using the default Xvid codec and get a 105mb file (I can live with that) that has no sound! I'm using "enable sound" at 32 and 16000. All the settings are default and I don't know where I'm going wrong! Someone please help me!
I never has such problems.Does it say Lame MP3 Codec under codec in the sound setings? Are you sure you are ripping the DVD correctly, does the ripped video have sound?
Using SmartMovie 2.2 The original vob file has sound as I can hear it after I load it in SmartMovie and press "play". The Lame codec shows and I checked the "enable audio" so it is ticked and the settings are 32 and 16,000. You don't by anychance have a Dr DivX profile file by any chance? as I can encode that perfectly but the player skips a lot of frames on my phone. SmartMovie makes things SO much easier though.
maybe it's my operating system? I have a clean operating system installed on my second hard drive-what would I need on that operating system assuming I can access the 4gig vob file?
Sorry,i don't have a Dr DivX profile.

Just SmartMovie and its codecs i guess.

I get this error message after installation of PowerDVD, SmartMovie and its Xvid codecs: 'Cannot open video file: filename. Please make sure you have installed DirectShow codecs for this file type.

This is not funny-all I'm getting is 325 frames of audio-10 seconds as stated in VirtualDUB! Could it be because I'm ripping every stream erro the DVD initially? Could it be that the streams cancel eachother out? What does everyone else use to encode their dvds? Please post which application I should use to rip the dvd and which streams and settings I should use. Please help me guys!
