Yes it is called phonecall, you type in the number of the person who you want to talk to and press the green key.
(Sorry I know it was sarcastic, but someone was going to say it 😃 )
No I am afraid that there isn't at the moment, I don't think the phone would be able to handle that data rate with a messenger program.

The ones I have installed on the 6600 and the PC don't require you to know that, just your username and password.

I believe that you are looking for the push-to-talk function.. This is as close as you'll get to voice messaging without actually doing the obvious (as lakeywhite mentioned) and making a phonecall...Several Nokia phones support this feature,but none of them are Symbian based phones,as far as I know...
I think that there will be something coming along in the future,after 3G gets popular...
