How to Encode and Watch Movies on the N-Gage!

This guide will teach you how to encode and watch full-length movies via the 3gpp media format for free. The RealOne Media Player that comes as default on your Nokia N-Gage will play this perfectly.

An average 90min movie encoded at the highest 15 fps in stereo is only about 50mb.
So stock up on MMC cards!!

Tools you need:
USB link provided with your Nokia N-Gage
Multimedia Card (MMC) with enough space for movies
Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0 (FREE Download from Nokias website)
Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0

Nokia Multimedia converter 2.0 is a free application provided by Nokia for converting all the popular media types to play on your N-Gage. Nokia MC will convert .avi, .mpg, .mov, etc in minutes.

Click on the following link to download Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0

http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/0,,034-63,00.html

You will need to register with Nokia as they send you the serial number by email.

What you need to do:
Download Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0 by clicking on the link above. Register with Nokia so that they send you the serial number.
Install Nokia MC using the serial number received by email.
Insert your Multimedia Card (MMC) with enough space to hold movies. I would recommend buying a 256 Meg Multimedia Card (MMC) as youll have enough space to hold up to 18 episodes of Friends.
Use Nokia MC to convert your media file to 3gpp format. Remember to set the FPS to 15 when converting to 3gpp format for the highest resolution. If you're concerned about file size then, by all means go to a lower FPS. It took my P4 1.8ghz only about 10min to convert a 90min movie at max res.
File transfer to your N-Gage is simple....
Make sure your MMC (Multimedia Card, which is different than a SD card) is installed.
Connect your N-Gage to your PC via USB link
Open Windows Explorer. Your computer should automatically recognize that your N-Gage with MMC Card installed is attached and it will show your device as an addition hard drive.
Drag/Copy your movie file to your memory card/device.
Now this is very important!! Disconnect your N-Gage from the USB link. (The game deck MUST be disconnected in order to access the MMC).
Open RealOne Media Player, move to right tab to view contents of MMC, hit play, ENJOY!!!!

Smart Ripper
ImToo DVD Ripper
What you need to do:

Use Smart Ripper to rip the .vob files from a DVD.
Save the .vob files you have just ripped into a folder where you can find it.
Use ImToo DVD Ripper, find the .vob files you created earlier. (This program converts .vob files into MPEG 1(VCD).
Once the application has finished encoding the files use Nokia MC to convert the MPEG file into .3gpp.
