Hello,

I am curretnly using a 6600 and am intersted in converting files I have on my mac to .3gp files, so they are playable on the 6600.

I have searched the forum and have seen the pvauthor appears to be the best bet, but I am struggling to find a apple mac compatible version ? I have tried searchign the web for a similar mac program but with no luck ?

Would anyone be able to assist me ? basically I want to be able to convert avi's, mpegs, .movs etc... to .3gp on my mac ?

Thanks inadvance for the help !

You can find ffmpeg for mac os x here: http://homepage.mac.com/major4/download.html
installation is a little bit difficult but just follow the instructions, open the program select open and opne the file you want to convert, then select 3gp under quick presets, and encode...

however you will soon find that the quality of 3gp is awful, but no worries, enter Smartmovie which plays xvid files http://www.lonelycatgames.com/mobile/smartmovie/files/smartmovie_s60_lcg_2_42.zip

start out with the trial version and if you like it purchase the player..

install that on the phone and use this preset (http://homepage.mac.com/major4/smartmovie.ffx.zip) to encode the video to the much better xvid format using ffmpegx

Hi, thanks so much for the information. I installed ffmpeg last night but on my mac, but I now need to download a couple of components later today.

Regarding what you wrote above, am I correct in saying these are the steps I need to take :

1)get ffmpeg working on my mac (download the rest of the components)
2)down load the smartmovie zip from http://www.lonelycatgames.com/mobil...60_lcg_2_42.zip, and install the .sis file onto my 6600 (two .sis files codec)xvid_s60.sis and smartmovie_s60_lcg.sis <---the player ?)
3)down load and run http://homepage.mac.com/major4/smartmovie.ffx.zip on my mac ? is this a fix for the ffmpeg that lets me convert files to the xvid format which i will now be able to play on the phone ?

Sorry if thats a bit complicated ?!?

Thanks.
