Guys,
Get this, i have a plain and simple 9210, just like it came from the factory, with a 3.18 software version, and nothing installed. Here's the strange problem
I have assigned personal notes to some people on my contacts and whenever they call I hear the following their personal ring AND what they hear on their phone BEFORE i answer!!!
Maybe i was not clear? OK, I'll go again. So, someone in my contacts with a personal WAV tone calls me, and while it is ringing for him, my nokia plays the personal wav tone as specified in the profile (ascending, etc) AND i also hear the "beeeeeeeeeeeb" that the caller is hearing while calling me! Its like I'm calling my mobile from a speaker phone and hearing both types of rings!
OK, OK, i know this is crazy, and u know what, i think it is stupid enough to the point i like it! I don't want a solution (well, an upgrade might help), I just want a D**N explaination. Can someone volunteer? Does anyone have any clue?
well my phone does another small nifty trick someties. I have 3.54 firmware.
i get an incoming call & my wav does not play only the nokia tune & then once pick up the phone & start talking , suddenly my phone starts playing the wav file in my ear & i can hear both the person talking as well as the wav...wierd...right? i am also thinking of upgrading it to the 3.62. hope this solves the problem.
Well, one thing is for sure you can *never* here what the caller hears because that is a tone generated in the phone switch and should not reach your mobile. At that moment there isn't even
a connection between the caller and you,
it's just the mobile network making your
phone ring.
There are a number of options
* your wav file is corrupt
* you hear the GSM noises through your wav file
* you are imagining things
Of these the 2nd is the most likable. I don't know why and how, but there is something strange with the shielding. So GSM signals can be heard through the speaker and even through the hearing device.

As to gauravonline
There are strange things happening sometimes with profiles and personal tones. However if the Nokia cannot play the personal .wav it either
- does not play a thing at all
- plays the default tone
This can also happen if the PDA part of the phone thinks there still was a call in progress, where you long ago disconnected with the phone side. I never had it play the personal .wav afterwards, but this could be due to the PDA side getting back to live...

NineTwoOneO,
I like ur reasons but, blieve it or not, this is what I hear. Now, I really can't see why it happens this way, but I think an upgrade will fix it.
Back to why it happens. Well, if i have any clue, the phone doesn't think that my wav is playing and it knows it shouldn't play one of its rings so it kindsa passes what's on the line without answering the call
Sounds stupid? I know, but can u explaine what is happening?
BTW, when u said "GSM noises", did u mean that "beeeeeeeb" the caller hears?
With GSM noises I mean the noise you hear when you put a GSM next to a speaker or radioset and call the GSM (or call with it). It's more like prt-prt-prrrrrt prt-prt-prrrt (no funny remarks please!).
I believe what you say, but there simply is no beeeeeeep tone at your side of the line, since your phone ringing is done by a signaling signal (no audio). The audio link is established after you accept the call.
But other thing what do your callers hear? What if you disable personal tones? Is it always, or sometimes? What if you change the .wav?
