just wondering if anyone knows if it will be possible to ever update the operating system on the p800 (or any symbian phones)
cos i see that p800 apparently has symbian os 7.0, and there is now version 8.0 released
probably not gonna be possible to update right???
jsut wondering if anyone knew if you COULD update, like you can on a pc??
I hardly doubt it. It isn't possible to upgrade to the P900 OS either so once again, I doubt it
It would be possible in theory, but the way these devices are designed makes in highly unlikely. Because the OS and built in apps are stored in a special ROM drive, and the ROM is very expensive, they only put in just enough memory to hold what it needs.
New OS's tend to be more sophisticated and larger, so the chances of being able to fit any new OS in an old device are remote.
Plus, from a marketing point of view, why would SE let you update your phone when they can sell you a new one for 500!
