dear friend,
i am sure u wud know that one can connect to net using gprs service of mobile or using mobile phone as data modem and for these both rescpective service i.e gprs & fax & data serivce has to be activated by ur mobile company.

secondly one shud have phone that can have gprs and fax data features.

to connect laptop or pc to mobile phone via ir or bluetooth.

bluetooth wud be preferable as it is faster compered to ir

if u want to use ur mobile for data option then just establish connection between laptop and mobile (ir or bluetooth) then create dialup connection which u are using to connect to net via landline. and connet to net using htis connection.

if u want to us egprs then u have to set ut handset for gprs as pe rur mobile service provider settings. then from bluetooth program on laptop select dialup networking service of ur mobile device and u can connet to net. its a bit complicated but very simple... if u want to know more than email me to [email protected]

I have tried connecting my laptop running windows XP home via bluetooth to the Nokia 6600; it coonects easily. Then I tried using the 6600 as a modem for connecting my laptop through it to the net using a dialup account; it connected once. I got a data transfer rate of 112kbps and was able to open sites and all easily. Morover, I was able to make and receive calls while my mobile was still acting as a modem! I was also able to connect through a Nokia 7650; only difference being I cannot make calls while it is still connected. Subsequently however, I have not been able to connect to the net through the 6600 no matter what I tried. Anybody has any idea why?

I seem to be havinga similiar problem on my 6620...

My Bluetooth link works fine, the call initiates on the phone, but I get a "connection error" message everytime I try.

The same ISP # works fine via land line and my regular modem.

I also have 6620 (att) and have yet to get the modem to work.

Anyone please paste a link or offer advice.

Thanks!

Ok...dont know about the 6600 but 6620 I can tell you cuz...wooohooo...I have one. I can tell you what I do...perhaps itll help. Im using a belkin BT adapter..using dial up networking protocol, I input the # to dial ( I have TMO so its *99#, leave username and password blank and voila...I connect.
