Hi, folks!
Just a quick question from a new P900 owner...
...I bought a brand new P900 the other day and was careful to follow the instructions about giving the phone a full initial charge and not using it until the charge had completed. When I plugged the charger in, though, the phone started itself up straightaway and went through the set-up process. Afterwards, it seemed to switch itself on and off several times (playing music and displaying graphics, with the red charge light going on and off) until eventually it settled down.
Is this normal? The reason for asking is that the battery life seems a little disappointing and I'm worried that the phone may not have got a proper first charge. Other phones I've had hang on to the full charge meter reading for quite a while, but my P900 drops off fully charged within hours of coming off charge, with only minimal usage (today it dropped to 94% after 10 hrs standby and a 2 min call). I'm generally getting about 4 days use out of it. :?
If anyone can either tell me that this is a problem or reassure me that it isn't, I'd be grateful!
Cheers!
Titan
If it is any reasurance, your intial attempt at giving the phone a full charge before using it parallels my experience.
4 days does not seem so bad. Expect the duration to improve as the "novelty" of playing with the various functions wears off.
(The screen, when active, drains the phone at an accelerated rate)
My first GSM phone, a Nokia 2110, had the incredible duration of 12 hrs (on standby) - this could be doubled with a battery not far off the size of a P900!
Just as the 2110 was revolutionary in its time, I am sure that history will repeat itself, where the P900 is concerned - meaning that the P900 is at the start of the smartphone development process (P800 - P900 - P910 ... ) 😊
Four days is perfectly normal for low to average useage. In fact, if you think about it, it's quite incredible. Okay, for a phone, four days may seem a bit poor (though not too bad) but for a full PDA with a CPU running at 156Mhz and a large, full colour touch-sensitive screen, four days is out of this world! You'll be lucky to get 12hours out of a PPC and the XDA2 doesn't quite last two full days. Besides, for me, as long as it lasts a long weekend, that's fine. Any more than that is unecessary as it sits in it's cradle unless I'm away and the charger isn't exactly massive.
i wish i could get 4 days! i just about make 2!! 😮
Me too! Unless I use it really little, 2 days is normal, 4 days I get only very occasionaly!
