what the hell is wrong with this i don't understand?
all of a sudden about a week ago, internet explorer seems to randomly stall.. No error messages, no funny sounds, nothing. Here i am typing this now when all of a sudden, the program just freezes for about 5 or 7 seconds, it won't do anything. then just by magic again it works again. (for less than a minute and then it does it again!) i'v got all the firewalls antivirus ad-aware sofware and i'v scanned my drives many times so before i start bouncing the mouse off the wall i thought i'd ask you kind kind people if you know of any fixes???
thanks in advance guys and gals

I know you say you have anti-virus etc. installed, but it sounds to me like either you are being scanned or some hidden process is using your connection. Do you have dial-up or broadband?
Does your firewall have an activity monitor? If so, keep it running and check for unusual activity spikes next time it happens. You can have all the anti-virus software in the world, but if you caught the new MyDoom virus before your anti-virus company updated their .dat file then then it makes no difference, and this new version of MyDoom uses your internet connection to send queries to Google, Alta-Vista and others in the background.
You could also try downloading another browser such as Opera to check that IE isn't the problem.
Just a silly question, but it's not windows or your antivirus trying to install an update in the background is it?
Hope some of this Helps.
well i'm off to go find Opera now but in the meantime i can tell you that i got a broadband connection, my firewall monitor doesn't show anything abnormal, and all updates are installed. i'll see what happens after i download opera and keep ya posted.
thanks for the tips mate.
