Hi everyone, I thought I would let you know that I spoke to Nokia regarding the lack of bluetooth audio support and basically what they are saying is that if there is enough demand then they would do something about it. All i can say is that if the new law the governmnet wants to pass in UK stating phones can only be used in full carkits is passed then I will want to know where I stand as the manufacturer does not support this phone with a car kit. Daft idea really if you ask me nokia knew they were trying to get this law passed so really should have sorted it. What do you guys think? :-?
Bluetooth Audio might be coming
Check it out!!

And no mention of the 7650 in the compatibility list, thought the recently announced 6650 is there! 😞
And here's confirmation that it won't work with the 7650:

Doesn't the Nokia 7650 phone support Bluetooth?
The Nokia 7650 phone does not have Bluetooth audio support, so you cannot use it with any Bluetooth headsets.

yes sure but its a mater of software..If nokia wants..
From what I've read, it's a matter of the whole operating system (Symbian 60) not supporting it; or at least, this version of the operating system.
No merlin I think it is firmware, since the 3650 has the same Symbian 6.1 with Series 60 of Nokia and support audio profile!
I really dont know what they were thinking in Nokia when they released this phone with so many things missing!
You could be right, though I'm just iterating what I've read. Nokia are taking the stand that it's not possible:
http://nkn.forum.nokia.com/devrel/threadshow.cfm?mb=4232714880360102&msg=6409024377635172&page=2
I did read this one! They say it is not possible to get a software upgrade but what they really mean is that they dont want to!
In a German 7650 forum a guy talked with a Nokia Guy asking several technical questions and one of them was about audio bluetooth. The Nokia guy said that it is possible via firmware but there are no plans yet!
I hate this kind of contradiction and secrecy from Nokia.
But i still love my phone! Ahhh yes, and my girlfriend! 😃

It's time then that we all hit nokia with a letter stating our absolute and total confusion that they could have released this phone without bt audio at all.
Actually I think buyers of the 7650 have a reasonable point to make; If you buy the phone on the strength of the specs as advertised then you only find out that bt audio isn't supported after you buy it (i.e. in the manual). Let's assume that not everyone scours nokias web site before buying a phone, in fact I doubt that very many people do except techies. Nowhere in the conventional advertising does it state that bt audio isn't supported.
Now, can someone post an email address for Nokia support, nokia.co.uk and club nokia are pretty shoddy sites for finding email addresses.

Don't confuse the two because I don't think any warranty covers that kind of miss use!
😉
LOL, nice one!
Bit of info on this:
I've been reading up on the Bluetooth protocol/profiles at http://www.palowireless.com/infotooth/tutorial/profiles.asp
It seems that the setup is similar to the configuration/profiles of J2ME, suggesting that the protocol is hardware based on the bluetooth chip and the profiles are software based - which means that there is no reason an audio profile couldn't be added via a firmware upgrade. If there are already phones out there by Nokia with Audio profile on the Symbain (series 60) platform, then they already have the software written as well.
