Nokia 6600 no caller display

Hi All,

Nice forums :icon14: . New to the forums, but hoping someone can help me.

I've just upgraded my phone to a Nokia 6600. Everything is going fine with the phone apart from one thing.

Whenever I receive an incoming call it is just being displayed as "Call 1" rather than displaying the number calling or the person calling from those stored in my contacts.

Its quite an important feature as I can't screen calls as they come in, and if I miss a call it shows in the log as "No Number".

I don't know if it is a simple setting somewhere that I need to change, or whether it is something wrong with the phone / network :? .

Any help you can offer is really appreciated.

Sounds strange. I doubt it is the phone. Must be the callers/network/operator/subscription somehow.

What happens if you try some other operator's SIM (from a family member, friend or colleague) on your phone?

Who's the operator? What country?

it maybe because you have the same contact stored more than once on the phone or sim . get someone to call you with a name and number thats only stored in your phone contacts and nowhere else .

gadget

No, gadget. That'd just make the caller's number show, and not the the contact name (because the phone wouldn't know which contact record to use/show).

In other words, it cannot be the reason for the behaviour of the original poster.

If a number is not shown on the phone, the network isn't sending it to the phone in the first place (the networks/operator or the user is withholding it).

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm on the Orange Network in the UK.

I will contact Orange to find out if it is anything to do with them causing this problem.

Although caller ID worked fine on my old phone, before I upgraded :?

Thanks again for your help, and if you have any more ideas, give me a shout. 😊

sorry stand corrected :embarasse

Just to let you guys know, it is all now working fine. It just suddenly started to work again so must have just been a network problem for a few days.

Thanks again for coming to my aid.

I had the same problem when I upgraded to my 6600, I phoned Orange UK(my network operator) and they sent me a sim update and it has worked fine ever since.

Hope that helps
