What version of firmware do you have?

What version of the 'Symbian Series 60 Operation System' do you have for your 7610?

Check by typing *#0000# on the main screen.

I've got...

V 4.0421.4
22-05-04
RH-51

Just checking 'coz I don't know if I've got an older version already?

Should maybe take mine to a data centre...?

Cheers 😉

v4.0424.4
12-06-04
RH-51

so mine sounds newer, only by a few weeks if that date on second line is anything to go by

Regardless of what that code displays (which is the firmware revision, its date and the model code for the phone), all 7610 phones run Symbian OS 7.0s.

New/different firmware version do not change/update the base OS version.

Try *#0000#
then u can see wht version u r using on every Nokia.

That, however, will not show the version of Symbian OS or Series 60. It will show the firmware version, its date and the model code.

Regardless of what the firmware version is, the 6600 always has Symbian OS 7.0s (and Series 60 2.0). The firmware is upgradeable, but even if you upgrade, the Symbian OS and Series 60 versions stay the same.

Got a new one with V4.0421.0 dt 22-5-04 (even though mfd in Oct.) but I updated to V4.0437.4 dt 15-9-04 before starting to use it. Still not happy about the initial jerkiness of the screen drawing. Otherwise everything seems to work ok. The screen seems miles ahead in contrast and color as compared to the 6600.

I have 4.0421.4, but I'll be upgrading to 4.0424.4 in 2 weeks time ... when my school has finished!!

I want those D-Pad shortcuts lol. Reminds me of my ex-7250 ... 😃

yup mine too is v 4.0421.4

and trying to get the upgrade for the D PAd shortcuts, but can't find a local upgrade centre!

Yes but what is fixed? The new version is dated only 3 weeks later than the previous one, very surprising... Maybe some bugs in 4.0437? I had one problem with sms incoming not shown in inbox...

Just phoned Nokia Care Centre ... and they said they had the v4.0437.4 for 7610. W00t!
I only have the v4.0421.4 atm.

I'm taking a trip to NCC later this arvo!

Got me update. It's great. The d-pad shortcuts work, and image preview can be disabled.

I'm satisfied. Firmware update was free, covered by warranty 😃

i also have ur firmware version, but have no idea what u mean by disabling the image preview

Go to Camera -> Options -> Settings -> Image
"Show Captured Image" .... No

You'll notice, that when you take a picture ... the phone doesn't show you a preview after capturing it.
So you can take more pictures faster. Takes 3 seconds to save the picture with Preview disabled. The 7610 took longer with firmware 4.0421.4, and Preview on ...

I just had my firmware flashed and my NEW # is

V 4.0441.0
08-10-04
RH-51

I live in Vancouver BC Canada and I got my phone flashed at Orangewave wireless her in town.

It runs a bit faster, I can now set all 5 points of my nav button to what ever I want! The only downside so far is that my memory card thinks it is in a new phone and is asking for my password (and guess what I forgot it :+( )

Hmm ... doesn't sound any different to my V4.0437.4

But hey ... its newer, so I guest its better 😃

I believe I have the most recent firmware for the 7610.

The only problem I had with the upgrade was that I couldnt reinstall my backup properly without problems. When I tried to reinstall the backup info of the phone it said right away (that I had to make sure that the language was compatible) ??? I guess thats because my phone came from China and I think the firmware came from Europe? Just to let you know the original firmware was
V 4.0421.4
22-05-04
RH-51

and it was in english except that it did have some chinese themes and screen savers in it??? The new firmware has NO chinese in it and YES it did fix the sound issue. The phone does seen to run a little faster and I LOVE the programable NAV button, thats 7 hot keys you can set to what ever your hearts desire. NOKIA PC sync went off flawlessly and I am a happy guy. :+)
