Prolific Data Cable

Hi all, a little help needed if possible.

I recently bought a data cable and software off ebay from what seems to be a decent enough seller with high rating. But, i cannot seem to get it connected from phone to pc.

Now when i plug my cable into computer and search for new hardware it finds a data cable called Prolific usb to cable port. It all seems to recognise it so that seems fine but when i load up nokia pc suite it doesn't connect to the phone!?

I have the windows ME edition so i'm wondering if im out of date a bit and need to upgrade to XP or am i missing something here? :?
I have tried to use oxygen phone manager but it seems to only work with IRDA unless that's just the trial version? Don't know. I wouldn't know how to tell even if my computer supports IRDA!?

I really hope someone can help me because i've had this cable over 2 weeks now and i'm beginning to lose patience as i want to put games on and tones and stuff. Very Very Very frustrating!!!!!

Thanks for listening and sorry for going on, just only wish someone could help! 😊

I think one of the reasons your post hasn't been replied to,is because most people here use Ir or bluetooth to connect their phones (as nokia intended).

Why dont you buy a Bluetooth or Ir dongle instead?

😊

Using an Mmc writer is just as much hassle as a data cable, coz you cant transfer with the phone on.
