Thanks for letting me post unregistered...
I bought a Nokia 7610 cause of the marvellous functions and PC connectivity etc. But...
I tried to install the Cable Driver from the CD and from the web and each time it says "Service Package 1 required". I have searched online and this seems to be a useless patch from Microsoft (Windows) that ballses up your PC... So I tried to get my way around it but no go...
So I eventually downloaded it and it slowed my computer right down, but still didn't let me install the driver (so I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling windows... FFS!). I live in Taiwan and I have tried with both Chinese and English versions of Windows...
If anyone can give me a decent answer as to WTF is going on with this, I would appreciate it muchly...
Also, I can't get online with the phone due to Taiwan localised problems, so I am starting to regret even buying the thing...
My Chinese isn't up to talking to Nokia in Taiwan....
Please help me out... with a step by step or a URL or Something!

No idea what the problem is. I think it might be a problem with your version of Windows.

Service Pack 1 isn't a 'useless patch' from Microsoft. It contains updates and changes that make installing drivers like these ones possible. They dont ask for SP1 to be installed just to cause annoyance! 😉
If you've recently had to format Windows then download the patch again and install it. There is no way round it. If you want the data cables to operate then do what they're asking you to.
SP1 doesn't balls up your systems if you do it properly.
But just so you know, SP2 was released recently and this contains all the updates from SP1 plus many many more.
does the win xp sp2 works with the nokia connectivity suite of 7610??? i mean does it allow the cable driver to be installed??

I am running XP SP2 with cable. Works like a treat.

was based on reviews and information found online... obviously I have no idea... hence asking for help on this forum...
I'll give it another try with SP2 and see what happens...
