Wirelessly posted (Nokia N-Gage: NokiaN-GageQD/1.0 SymbianOS/6.1 Series60/1.2 Profile/MIDP-1.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0)

My N-Gage has the following 4 drives: C (Flash, capacity 4MB), D (RAM, capacity 379.50KB), E (Hard disk, capacity 15.23MB) and Z (ROM, capacity 17.75MB). My N-Gage QD has the following 5 drives: C (Flash, capacity 4MB), D (RAM, capacity 379.50KB), E (Hard disk, capacity 60.93MB), G (unspecified type, capacity 17.31MB) and Z (ROM, capacity 17.31MB). Firstly, why does my N-Gage QD have an extra drive ("G"😉? Secondly, what is the "D" drive for on my N-Gage? Finally, what are the "D" and "G" drives for on my N-Gage QD?

The D-drive is a RAM disk; a portion of Dynamic RAM allocated and mimicing a storage drive through a special software driver (that makes the allocated portion of memory look like a drive). Just like anything else in DRAM, when you turn off the device (or power is lost for any other reason) the content is lost for ever. Some applications use it as fast (much, much faster to access than Flash memory in the phone or a memory card), temporary storage that does not need to be saved, and the loss of which doesn't matter when the device shuts down.

Might have something to do with the Pop port? And the N-gage transfering info to that 5th drive before you change MMC cards without turning the deck off?

Pop Port? The N-Gage QD doesn't have a Pop Port!

Sorry my mistake, for some reason I typed Pop Port instead of Hot Swap..
