Norton Antivirus settings

I had the problem of my P800 not being recognised by my PC, but thanks to these forums I sussed the problem as being with my NOrton Firewall settings.

I've done a search, but I can't find any other workaround to this than turning off my internet security. This is OK, but it is a bit of a hassle every time I want to sync. Can anyone tell me how to set up my firewall to allow automatic syncing?

I'm sure the first time my syncstation was recognised Norton set up a couple of rules for its connection. I've looked through and I think the syncstation might be under WA.exe and WCServer.exe. Does this seem right?

Any help would be most really appreciated!

Hello,

I am experiencing a similar problem. I cannot get the PC to see the P800. I have disabled AutoProtect in Norton but this hasn't had an effect. Would you mind forwarding me the settings you used to see if they work for me?

WhenI try to sync I get the following message :

"No phone is connected. Please connect a phone"

Does this match the experience you had?

Thanks

Colin

yup, exactly the same. This is thread i used to resolve it:
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/22700/&highlight=firewall

To turn off firewall step by step:
Doubleclick globe norton icon.
Click on `personal firewall' and hit the yellow `turn off' button that appears bottom right.
Take phone of sync station and then put it back on.
& robert's your father's brother.

Out of interest, can you check your firewall list?
doubleclick on `personal firewall'
Hit the `programs' tab.
In the `manual program control' box, do you have progs called WA.exe and WCServer.exe that are marked as block all?

Someone must know a better way of doing this. PLeeeease!

Cheers, and hope this helps.
