Can anybody give any comparative insight to reqwireless' Webviewer and Opera? Since I am using a 9290, I mostly concerned with memory first then performance and flexibility. TIA
Webviewer Versus Opera
You're going to have to choose then.
Opera has the best performance and flexibility (eg it can access Secure Sites) but it is shite for memory usage. The Original (STNC variant) weeb broswser has a smaller memory requirement, but struggles with a lot of pages (eg it hates nested tables) and can be quite slow to render pages.
So does webviewer have issues loading secure sites?
I am leaning towards Opera (primarily due to its popularity here in the forums) but from what I have read, there is a lot of file/app manipulation I must do to run it on a 9290. I believe in KISS whenever possible.
On the other hand, if webviewer is simple to use while giving me 80% of the functionality of Opera, I will have to reconsider. The only problem, I have is I haven't found anybody talking about their use of webviewer.
The great thing about Opera is that it handles more like a deaktop browser and is more intuitive than 'Web'. For me I like the fact I can access secure websites (to check my bank account and stuff like that). I use them both with images 'off' (for speed and memory space) so apart from that, it's not such a big deal. Just a shame Nokia didn't put more memory into the 9210 in the first place grumble, grumble 😊
Thanks all for your responses. I have loaded Opera and we'll see how it works out.
