This will be boring and basic to y'all, but...
I need help with creating and using my own ringtones for my 3650. I think I understand the file conversion thing now:
convert to 15 second .wav file and save as 8 bit mono unsigned.
Is this right?
If so, what is the best way to send the file to my phone? I tried Coolservice, and I received an error:
Services: Reply Unknown
How should I send the file to my phone?
Thanks,
Lisa
If you have a PC with infrared, you can send it directly to the phone.
If you have a PC with Bluetooth, same thing.
You can also use a PC-based MMC reader and copy it to the memory card on your PC.
You can also use Nokia's PC Suite (with infrared or Bluetooth).
You can send it as an attachment to an email address/account which you have configured to be accessed with the phone.
You can put it on a web/WAP page to be downloaded with the phone's browser.
Thanks, I went ahead and bought a $25 MMC reader to connect to my USB port (it will also read my CF card for my digital camera, which is great). I won't have the patience to deal with the WAP page on-line... and e-mail just takes too long (not to mention my outgoing mail isn't working on my phone right now... I need to get that fixed).
My friend keeps making fun of me for my 3650 ignorance. I'm working on it, though!! 😊
You know, I hear "PC Suite" is supopsed to come with my Nokia phone. Did I lose it? Or is it possible that it did not come with my phone?

Well if it isnt there, just download it at Nokias website. Is that a brand new phone? Where did you bought it? I think u should demand the CD. Any brand new phone should come complete, unless you bought it as a second hand. Otherwise just leave it like that. Wouldnt function though if u dont have an infra or BT anyway.
Yes, I bought the phone brand new. However, I don't have infrared or bluetooth capabilities on my PC anyway. I was hoping that the PC suite would allow me to edit information on my MMC via my USB port since I know that PC suite has several unique wizards and editors, and I was hoping I could use those. I guess that isn't possible, though? I suppose I'll have to DL the appropriate applications separately when necessary for backup and such. Right? Also, when I receive the MMC reader for my USB port, I won't need to DL any software to transfer files between my PC and my MMC, correct?
Thanks for all your help!

Yup. You just need fexplore or any filebrowsing app.
