Unsafe to remove memory card msg

8 replies · 3,447 views · Started 13 August 2004

I keep getting this message once in a while but I'm not really removing the mmc. I could be playing a game or doing anything on my phone then this message would pop out then after that the MEMORY CARD IS INSERTED message would follow. Is this a bug? Anyone with the same problem? I have an N-gage QD

Hey I get this message too... I just bought a new MMC Card for my Nokia N-Gage QD and it randomly pops up messages saying that it is "Unsafe to remove memory card" although its securely in its place. For some reason the phone is thinking that the MMC Card is being removed like every minute and put back in..

This HAS to be a bug because I searched the net and a lot of people are getting this!!!

i own a qd and i have encountered the same problem you guys experienced. now i also wonder whats the remedy. ??

What brand and size mem cards is everyone using that gets this bug? I get it too and am using a 256mb TEC card. wondering is it happens on 128 mb cards too.

I have only encountered this bug once. I've been using a Lexar 64MB card for about... 2 months now? Dunno, since whenever the QD was available in Canada (about one month before the US launch).

There's probably two factors at play: one may be a timing/compatability issue; the other may be dirty contacts on the card which could create a bad signal connection and manifest itself in a similar fashion.

I get this message CONSTANTLY.

I returned my phone for replacement and it has the same problem.

I have tried a 16MB Sandisk card and a 512MB MyFlash (AData) card.

I have cleaned the contacts, put tape on the other side for some pressure etc.

I'm sure the problem is firmware, not physical.

Two phones, two cards, I'm out of ideas.

When I have time I guess I'll call Nokia.

If anybody has fixed this PLEASE CONTACT ME.

I had the same problem with 64MB Delkin Devices card. Sometimes it happens 3-4 times a day, and closes all the open applications. The problem is, that i cannot return the card in store, because it works with all other devices correct :/
I think there should be something like a patch which will stop this popup window and will not interpret such timeout as memory card removal. Maybe some OS tunning tool ?

Just an idea : what is the version of firmware of your ngages ? Is it possible that this problem appears with only one version ?
