That's right folks, I have another dead game deck, thanks to Nokia's notorious "White Screen of Death" (WSD)! So lets see what bugs we have... My N-Gage won't accept Multimedia Memory Cards (MMCs), the MP3 player never works and my N-Gage won't perform back-ups. My N-Gage QD has a pathetic bluetooth radio (it drops out CONSTANTLY!), a faulty "6" key and it crashes constantly. My girlfriend's 6600... Well lets not go there- there's WAAAY too many bugs to list! The best bit is, my girlfriend and I look after our phones with the utmost care, yet when it comes to Nokia, we still seem to attract EVERY bug under the sun! I'll tell you what, I'm seriously considering selling my game decks and games for what I can and switching to a Sony Ericsson or better yet, a Windows Mobile Smartphone (eg. The Motorola MPx200)...

woh woh! dont do anything you might regret!

Listen to this: I got my toshiba laptop this year. These are the problems i have had: screen busted, key board break, charger break, screen bust again, infared case break.

All bad luck, it is not toshibas fault. Just seems to be that bad things happen.

Well i say bring it back to the shop where you got it and get a new one. If that one does the same things u should just get a re-fund.

Easy.

<lol i was on gprs allll night, no charge, no charge.. heheh I'm lovin it!>

Stick with it. It sounds like you've been very unlucky (and I'm upgrading the mobile forums for you seeing as how you are are the top wirless poster!)

Yeah, I have not decided what I am going to do yet... All I know is that Nokia's Symbian OS-powered phones are notoriously buggy and it's starting to get on my nerves! Hmm, what to do, what to do...

Why is it that Symbian OS-powered Sony Ericsson's are less prone to bugs than Symbian OS-powered Nokias? The Sony Ericsson P900 and the Nokia 6600 BOTH run Symbian OS 7.0, yet the 6600 has more bugs and crashes more frequently (especially the latter)! And before you say it, I KNOW the P900 & the 6600 use different interfaces (UIQ and Series 60, respectively), but the core operating system (Symbian OS 7.0) is the same...

I suspect Symbian itself is very stable. The stuff that makes it buggy is probably parts the firmware and Series 60. I honestly haven't had any problems with any Symbian phones (apart from a very early 3650).

I have had to reset a N-gage to factory defaults once too thinking about it, but that was because I was stress testing it!

There are always bugs in any hardware / software. It often depends how you use them how much they affect you.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!
If you want bugs-lockups-sleepless nights-uncontrollable urges to throttle Bill Gates...by all means go Windows.

The Microsoft mobile OS is.......

absofuckinlootlyshite.

All my MS smartphones lay gathering dust, I get them out now and then to remind myself that Symbian is heaven and MS is hell.

Words can not describe how nasty it is, at first it lulls you into security, it appears to do as you ask, you click and it responds...but this is just a tease, a few weeks in to the relationship, ugly cracks appear..that turn into living nightmares.

Microshite could not write an OS to save their company.

They rely ,or rather have bedfellows with hardware companies wacking up speed and memory to run their bloatware.

hmm, ive got such same problems with my n-gage too, bought it about 3 months ago, wasnt yet in repair, i had only problems with the backup till a few days ago when some whitescreens appeared and the phone wont boot up like it should. im currently searching for a way to rescue the messages on it to the mmc and format it. lets hope this will fix some problems, maybe a newer softwareversion on tuesday, deimos(the n-gage) is still running v3.3(28-08-2003)...

I bought an N-gage two months ago and i encountered the same problem like Cybacowboy had, however i still do believe that N-gage really suited me well,so i returned my original n-gage and trade it with a qd just by adding $35 and another $30 for a 128 mb. so far i never encountered eny problems compared to what i had before with my n-gage1. before i install any files, i make sure that my friend who's a an average symbian genuis knows about it and has already installed that specific file to his 6600. But i still know you know alot more better than him so i ask, Rafe, is it ok that i format my n-gage qd from time to time, even though just for maintenance/ just to refresh my system.
