When I got home last night i was going to turn my phone off to save some battery power as I didn't have my charger with me. But low and behold my phone wouldn't turn off 😮 I took the battery out and now I can't get it on again. have since charged it up but no luck 😞
Has anyone else had any simlar problems?
Yes me, but after a few hours it worked again! I guess I was lcuky!!!
My guess is that your On/Off button does not work, thats why you could not switch off the phone, and now cannot switch it on!

Yes that's what I'm thinking, it's pretty weird because before it happened my On/Off button became very sensitive and turned off in my pocket if keylock wasn't on. I seem to remember someone on the forum mentioning this too.
Man that would suck
One lil buttoin doesnt work properly and ya whole 7650 world crumbles down and burns like rome 😞
sorry to hear it man.
Hey J2theIZZO,
Why not you grab thy phone and head straight to the Care Centre now?

problem with the on/off switch for nokia phones is common
for example in nokia 8850/8210/8250 if you press the on/off button frequently the on/off switch bcome stuck or something like that and you cannot press it anymore
J2theIZZO had any luck with your power-button prob?
I'm starting to feel like this is a prototype phone, and we are the BETA testers! :-?
lol beta testers more like Alpha Testers.
Yeah my mates 8210 button broke and they charged him $150 AUD to fix it.
Why made you say so?? :-?

$150 AUD ????? My 8210 has a REGULAR screen fix every 3 months! They charge me 35 Euros for each repair in Greece! Since I got my Torx screwdriver collection, I saw that the problem is a little rubber thingy that has tiny connectors which connects the screen with the circuit board! So they basicaly charge me 35 euros for i tiny bit of rubber! 😞
But $150 ?????! GOD! Thats almost triple the amount I pay for the screen!
J2TheIZZO,
the power button is in two part (the tactile switch is on the phone itself whereas the red switch you see is on the external case) so take it to the NSC and they should be able to fix it. Hopefully it is just some dust between the two.. or maybe the external switch lost it ... (in which case you get a brand new external case.... 😊
I'm taking it to a Nokia service centre today, but it seems to have got better now, it's gone back to being sensitive again. To turn it on, you have to press it VERY lightly.
If you take the sim cover off the phone if you look where the on/off button is at the back there's a small "slot", I blew down it and it seems to have made it work a little bit better. So I think it maybe a bit of dust.
My power button acts a bit odd in that when I press it to access the profiles/shutdown menu, golding the button down makes the cursor move down the list.
Very odd. Yes.
it happen to me too.
I think it's part of the it feature.
LOL! TankerX thats no bug m8! This is like this on purpose! It happens to everybody! 😃
If you press the power button once, it will show up the shutdown menu!
If you keep pressing it a few times to scroll it will scroll!
Then if you press it for more than 2 secs it will select the choice and not shutdown!
So lets say you want the phone to silent mode!
Press the power key once!
Press it until the cursos moves to the Silent Mode!
Press and hold the power key!
You phone is in silent mode and did not shut down!
Voila!
I hope this doesn't turn out to be another "common" fault like the screens were with the 8XXX series.
No its just something extra in order to be able to switch modes with just one hand! 😊
I'm not talking about the shortcut menu, I was refering to the sensitivity of the power switch, or more the fact that is doesn't work at all.
If i am correct, it should be found in the user menu.

As I said, it more like an prototype phone! Anthing can happen! Hope that it does not become that bad though!
the power switch acts as down button is in all new nokia phones
such as 8210 8250 8850 etc
Errghh....It's strange, the power button has a mind of it's own. It works fine now. I'm still going to take it to Nokia, see if they can do anything about it. I don't want to be stuck with a phone that doesn't work when I'm miles away from anywhere.
So, it's a feature this power button scrolling thing?
I thought it was a bug because for weeks it never did it and then it did. So, rather than developing a bug, my phone has self programmed a fix for one that I didn't know was there!
Cool!
ERRGHH...I've got a 3210 for 2 weeks
J2theIZZO, please tell me where you bought your phone and in which network to avoid them! I did not know that 3210s still exists! Did you not complain or anything?
I'm on Vodafone and I got it from the Vodafone shop, but this has nothing to do with them. I took my phone to a Nokia Service Centre (Carphone Wharehouse) to get a firmware upgrade at the same time.
I did complain, but the guy (who was completely clueless) said that's what they use for "lone" phones. I was trying to get them to "lend" me a 9210 but they weren't having none of it.
:x :x :x  :x :x :x
Oh and the silly thing is I had to give them 40 for it. Why do you suppose that is?, It's not like i'm gonna steal it when they have my 7650. And it's not even worth 40 anyway.
I would rub the 3210 in his nose! But thats just me!
Nose?, I felt like sticking it somewhere else 😉
I did complain about it for 10 minutes but I had to get back to work so I just accepted it. I'm not too bothered, i'll just use my Samsung until I get it back.
