and

the internal memory is 6mb is that same as nokia6600 bcoz i am confused as on the nokia website it says total 6mb internal memory (3.4 shared by messg. calander ,contacts etc)

pls help me

i am planing to go for nokia 6260 is that better than nokia 6600

i have nokia 3660 rightnow

The 6260 will support the following sound formats:

MIDI tones (poly 48)
AMR (NB-AMR)
True Tones (WB-AMR)
WAV
MP3
AAC
RealAudio

Yes, there only is 6MB internal memory, but it will have a "normal" MMC, which means at least up 256MB of storage for any files. Contacts and calendar data might be still on the phone, but messaging data can be moved to the MMC.

HTH,

Tilman

how long is the estimate time the battery will last while playing mp3s?

Doesn't it have RS-MMC, so a word "normal" I wouldn't use.

And doesn't it have 28 MiB as a heap memory (RAM)?

Megapixel camera instead of VGA one and real 3.5mm or 2.5mm stereo-audio-plug and mini-USB instead of lousy Pop-port would make it even better.

Afaik, it will us normal MMC cards and not the RSMMC!

"Memory Functions*
* 6 MB built-in phone memory
* Includes a 32 MB MMC memory card, preloaded with a number of applications you can try for free
* Easy MMC exchange capability: change MMC cards without turning the phone off
* 3.5 MB internal shared memory for contacts, text messages, multimedia messages, ringing tones, images, video clips, calendar notes, to-do list, and applications"

The 6260 phone page is not accurate. The phone uses RS-MMC even if the page only refers to "MMC" without mentioning "Reduced Size".

Correct and sorry for the confusion. Even the flyer from the launch event says MMC, like the website 😊 But in the video you can cleary see that it is RSMMC.
This is really bad marketing... 🙄

So where can ppl get these RS-MMC's then? Ive never heard of this form of memory storage before.

I take it the 6260 will not support both the RS-MMC and the standard MMC...

Mmm my opinions on the worthwhile of the 6260 has changed abit.

RS-MMC (Reduced Size MMC) is half the length of a regular size MMC. RS-MMC cards come (all that I've bought, at least) with an adapter that makes it easier to use an RS-MMC card in a regular size MMC slot.

A regular size MMC will work with an RS-MMC slot, but if the slot has been designed to seat only RS-MMC length cards, a regular size MMC will not fit (either at all, or only by force; e.g., by bending the regular size MMC, which could damage it).

You can fin rs-mmc for example via google... i found a finnish website www.verkkokauppa.com that sells 512mb rs-mmc for 72,90 and the memory has manufactures life warranty 😉
