The FreEPOC OPL Event Core provides new OPL programmers with an application framework that you can build your own programs round. With FreEPOC, All About ER6 will be providing a set of tutorials in OPL to get you started. To give you a chance to flex your new skills and to help get you motivated we are also launching a developers competition with $3200 worth of prizes.

Event Core is a program that does absolutely nothing! It's strength lies in the fact that packed in the zip file is the OPL source code that illustrates how the menu (and the default menu entries) are called, how the 4 side menu buttons work, and how to react to system messages. Think of it as a 'skeleton' that you can hang your own code round. With half the work already done, your development should be a lot easier and quicker.

To help you get to grips with OPL on the Communicators, FreEPOC are working alongside All About ER6 to create a set of tutorials not just on the basics of programming in OPL - but in all the areas you'll need as a new hobby developer; website design, UID numbers, SIS packaging, marketing and support. We're providing you all the tools you need to start programming on your 9210.

Full support to budding developers will be provided via the forums (or will try to be helpful if we can).

Not only that, but to help you get motivated and create your own applications for the community, both sites have worked in conjunction with many of the existing Software Houses working with the 9210 to provide over $3,000 worth of prizes in a Developer Competition geared for you, the hobby developer.

You can download the Event Core from the FreEPOC website (along with lots of other nice free software).

You can find out more about the All About ER6 side of things in the Develop Section.
