having had the phone for 5 weeks now, i thought its time to put some thoughts down on the handset itself. Having had a 6600 before this handset, inevitably, i would compare this handset to the 6600.
I gota say, im getting fed up with the minimal updates nokia make to their newer handsets, an example being 6600 to 7610. Yes, the designs are different, and wacky (3650 anyone?) but, i believe, its costing nokia money and market share.
Freaking people out with funky keypads isnt the way forward...perhaps a leaf out of sony ericsson's book, would be handy..you know with their handsets, you get a few new extras with their handsets when you update from the last handset.
Anyway...7610. with the exception of the cpu speed (123mhz) compared to the 6600s (103mhz) their isnt really that much of a change.. advanced xhtml? hmm...same as 6600's...yes the browsers a little faster, but, having no javascript, opera is the best option...its fast, especially via gprs, (put in ip and proxy port in settings) so, using the in built browser for anything except browsing is null. The phone boot up is quicker than the 6600's, but that'l be down to the phones speed..the screen is excellent, and clarity is better than the 6600's. Also, taking pictures in vga mode (640 x 480) i gota say the definition is better, and the colour spread and focus is better. Generally, i think nokia could have done so much better with this handset...i like it..alot...but damn, they must have known what was coming up right behind them (700i..1.3 mega pixel, huge screen 262,000 screen). so, i think their taking the piss out of their user base..and its gonna cost them... ive only touched on things briefly here, but im getting very annoyed with nokia...PULL YOUR SOCKS UP!! .
