Headphones curiosity

Hi all.

Is it normal when I plug my new earphones in my QD it sounds through the speaker AND through the earphones?.

When I connect the earphones QD complains showing a "Invalid device" error message. Is it means that I must use only the included with my deck?. I don't think so. Is there any cheat or config to avoid this?

Thanks in advance.

If you look at the plug on the headset that came with your QD, you will see that there are four connections on it (separated by the three black plastic bands). If you look at a standard 3.5mm stereo headphone plug, you will see that there are only three connections (separated by 2 plastic bands). What is probably happening is that the QD is detecting that the third and fourth connections are shorted together (probably connecting the mic line to ground). Most likely what it is doing is dropping into a speakerphone sort of mode as a result.

You will need a "female 3.5mm stereo headphone to male 3.5mm 4-conductor" adapter to connect your new earphones. Odds are someone out there manufactures one.

I bet you mean 3.5mm stereo to 2.5mm 4-conductor adapter. 😊

Thanks for your help. So it'ts just about the adapter itself. Ok, I can manage that. ;D

Hehe, yeah, I thought it looked too small to be a 3.5mm on the QD, but I couldn't be bothered to get out the calipers and check 😊

But I'm 95% sure that you just need an adapter so that it doesn't freak out about the extra conductor (probably the mic) being connected to ground.
