6600 / Opera / Hotmail

Hi,

I have downloaded the latest trial Opera for symbian (6.20), and am having problems accessing the Hotmail website using it.

The basic GPRS connection is fine, as I can access other sites (news.bbc.co.uk, www.theregister.co.uk), but the Hotmail connection seems to stall when it tries to present loginnet.passport.com. The screen is left blank, so of no use. Cookies are enabled, as is JavaScript. No idea what the other setting should be, so they are left as default.

I am using Orange GPRS in the UK, and the 6600 firmware is 4.09.1, dated 26 February 2004.

I understand there are pop3 proxies available, but I'm really only interested in getting through with a http browser. I have tried the www.mobile.msn.com/wml access using the in-built browser, but I get a services error.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Regards,

K

I have this issue as well with another device. Anyone got any ideas? Disabling and enabling cookies, dropping cache etc don;t do a thing. Even a hard reset and nothing. Its really annoying as I can't log onto any websites that require a session cookie. Persistent cookies are also ignored. Search everywhere without luck.

Have you asked Opera's custome support? (In the past, for the desktop Opera there have been arguments in the news about Opera and Microsoft on how Microsoft has prevented access to their sites/services form Opera browser users. Perhaps this is one of them, too.)
