Caribe Virus Is Now In The Philippines!!!

10 replies · 10,180 views · Started 20 August 2004

hello there!!

I just want to inform that the carib or caribe virus is now in our country, the Philippines! A friend of mine who is working in Ayala center, Bank of the Philippine Island branch (BPI) received the carib.sis file thru bluetooth. Since the transmission is from his friend's phone, he accepted it. Later both of them learned that it is the virus.

I learned on the other hand that he has the virus when we're both in the cab yesterday. I just saw in my phone that he is transferring a file to my 6600 via bluetooth and when I looked at him I saw he do nothing. Then when I asked him he said that his phone had the carib on it.

We have an assumption that the carib virus is trying to spread in Ayala specifically in greenbelt areas and glorieta.

Please take care of your bluetooth. As much as I want to set "hide" my bluetooth i can't bcoz I might miss those chicks who maybe wanting to contact me. lol

hello to everyone!!!

first of all, thanks for this site... i wouldn't have figured out

that the infamous-yet-silent "caribe" fever is immortalizing

genxers' phones nowadays...

here is my story:

majority of my teammates and i were supposed to go for our

group activity in antipolo last week, but, due to impulsive

reasons, we've settled a plan and end up going to blue

wave in bay city in pasay...

after a feastful of food and tummy fillers at gerry's grill, we

took our feet off to cable car in makati to continue the fun. of

course, i was aware, and not removing the fact that

greenbelt is just a block away from this establishment...

now, while everyone was enjoying the sunday night, with a

lot of foreigners hanging around, my N3650 just vibrated,

with a message which says, "...received caribe.sis file from

another bluetooth..." or something like to that effect. i for

one, not knowing that it could damage my gadget, and

thought that it might be just a good game to download, just

saved the file in my phone. of course, it was an honest

mistake though, that i haven't turned off my bluetooth... that

i admit, my big mistake... i couldn't agree more...

after a while, when i just arrived home, i reluctantly installed

it. hoping that something will be new on my applications,

and possibly hippy at the same time. but all of a sudden,

hell!!! it screwed and messed up my enrtire system!!! i

uninstalled this crappy thing right away, and even deleted

the message in my inbox. this was totally unacceptable. in

as much as i wanted to sleep after the gimmick, i really can't

because of this super-striker virus...

the next day, i also found out that when i attempted to

charge my battery for about three hours, it's not loading

fully. and mind you, it can only live for about two hours...

this is really frustrating and a silent tragedy to all genxers

out there...

lesson learned:

be aware and never turn-on your bluetooth application

unless you know the message is safe to be imported on

your phone!!!

hope that someone could send me the "cure" so that my

phone will recuperate from this agony...

thanks... and have a nice day!!!

Take it to your local mall, you know, those cellphone change booths, they can fix it for you (uploads the cabirfix to your phone and runs it) Its very simple though, if you have the equipment. If you do, search the forum for the fix for cabir.

Chill Pare.

Hi peepsss.... this site help me a lot to know more about the problem on my phone. I already have the " FIX " or " Anti-Virus " for this.

😎 Feed Your Mind: Caribe / Cabir Virus :icon4:

Cabir is a bluetooth using worm that runs in Symbian mobile phones that support Series 60 platform (Nokia 6600, 7650, etc...).

Cabir replicates over bluetooth connections and arrives to phone messaging inbox as caribe.sis file what contains the worm. When user clicks the caribe.sis and chooses to install the Caribe.sis file the worm activates and starts looking for new devices to infect over bluetooth.

When Cabir worm finds another bluetooth device it will start sending infected SIS files to it, and lock to that phone so that it won't look other phones even when the target moves out of range.

Please note that Cabir worm can reach only mobile phones that support bluetooth, and are in discoverable mode.
Setting your phone into non-discoverable (hidden) Bluetooth mode will protect your phone from Cabir worm.
