inputting characters

hi, im glad i found a forum like this as ive got some problems with my p900 that i need some advice on:

the main thing im having problems with is with writing on the screen. basically everywhere that i need to input letters i can only put numbers in, eg contact name. i learnt how to do the letters properly (from the manual) but still doesnt accpet them. if you write a letter on the screen it will appear as a number, or try to change it into a number, and if it cant, the line will just stay up on the screen untill you do something to remove it. this also happens vice versa. where i need to put the contacts number in, writing on the screen only allows letters. ive got round this by using the virtual keypad but it is an inconveinice.

its the same elsewhere in the phone eg sms, except on my installed apps and the webrowser.

i phoned the shop that i got it from but they didnt know anything about it and told me i could get a replacement, however no replacement is availailable at the moment.

i was wondering what you people here suggest? can i do a complete restall of the OS, maybe that will sort it? ive tried upgrading the firmware but to no avail.

thanks

First of all, a warm welcome to this forum! You came to the right place 😊

Maybe a stupid question, but you do know that the numbers have to be inputted upper of the "black triangle" and letters below the black triangle...

If you do know this, this sounds like a weird problem to me. You can try to upgrade the firmware (for more info, read the faq) and if that doesn't work replacing it or sending it to SE seems to be your only option

mmmm....odd one - i only use the virtual keypad anyway as i find the direct writing a bit poor. tend to get all sort so rubbish appearing

thanks for the responses guys, i reinstalled the firmware again, and now it seems to be working all fine...i really dont understand.

well, im happy now anyways its fixed. maybe the last time i did the firmware i didnt do it properly or something. who knows

thanks again 😊

Is there any way of changing the way of handwritting? make it more Palm-like or something? I used to have a Palm and founf its handwritting system more friendly (for ex., they dont use any characters that needs to be written in more than 1 action).
