Hi all !

This is my first post on this forum !
Great place !!
Have been browsing this forum for more than a month now .. and have had all my doubts answered !! Cheers !

But theres one small problem..

Here goes ....

Have u used the inbuilt e-mail application on the 6600 ?
As in.. the one that appears in the ' Messages ' option.
Does it work for you ?
I have tried a number of e-mail (accounts) services.
All accounts have been configured properly.. but nothing seems to happen.
They just wont conect !!

It wld be like using Outlook on the phone.. very convenient.. rather than going to the site and sending mail !

In case u can throw some light on the topic ...

Thanks.

I have used the email functionality just fine. What you need:

1: GPRS Internet Access Point (IAP) settings from your operator/carrier (and configure the "Access point in use" to use it when you define the mailbox).

2: A GSM/GPRS subscription/plan that actually allows you to use the GPRS IAP.

3: The POP3 or IMAP4 account info (server name, username, password) from your email service provider or ISP (Internet Service Provider).

4: The SMTP server name from your operator/carrier (you must use the operator's SMTP server, not your email service provider's (unless they are the one and the same company).

5: The POP3/IMAP4 servers must be directly accessible on the Internet (with or without a secure connection), or you need to find some kind of a VPN (Virtual Private Networking) client (Nokia has a Series 60 VPN client for sale for corporations along with their firewall products).

I am using the built in email program over standard CSD WAP ie non GPRS.
I connect to 02 and can access my 02, Orange, Virgin and Wanadoo accounts with no problems whatsoever and I did not need to change any of the settings. Have you tried the online email configurator on Nokia's website - it worked for me.

I tried using these settings too .. wont work :con?

I have the IAP configured and working with a valid GSM/GPRS Orange plan.

I can open websites and send e-mail just fine ... but its sad.

Cant send receive attachments !!

If someone can point me to a free e-mail service provider .. that works with you guys .. maybe i can try those settings !!

Also if u can provide me with all the settings that work for you ... nothing like it !!

Thanks 😊
