Wont work from the phones email software however I did come across some software that allows this, will post a link when I find it again. Alternative just add a bookmark in your services browser http://mobile.passport.net and check your email from there

Without POP3/IMAP4 & SMTP support the Messaging client on the phone cannot connect.
You could use your phone's built-in browser and access the WAP version of Hotmail, however: http://mobile.msn.com/wml
