It is www.yamigo.com
Should work independently from the operator, via GPRS.

same here, on o2, set it up and connected fine..but now what? how do i "see" and "chat" to people?

You need to have other people you know also on the same Presence server.

You can add Presence/Chat contacts in the Contacts app: open Contacts, hit the directional key right to see the Presence contacts view/list (by default it says "(no subscribed contacts)"😉, then hit "Options" and choose "Subscribe new" & proceed from there.

can sum 1 plz post the settings for the presence server? im on o2 THANKS!!

could anyone tell wht exactly this feature is.
soes Gprs is enough to use it.
if yes then someone please tell me abt it.

A Presence server keeps track of your and your friends status (available, busy & such) & allows instant messaging type of chatting, too. Pretty much the same as PC-based instant messaging, but implemented for mobile phones and mobile network based service implementation.

These OMA specs were also known as "Wireless Village" in the past.

okay, i signed up on yamigo, and can connect to the chat and presence servers correctly. but yeah i dont get how to use this, i thought this would be like agile, cuz when filling the form at yamigo i gave my ids for yahoo and msn and also the passwords, i thought this was just a gateway for the two instant messaging services. who is using presence and chat effectively? i dont get it.. and also positioning.. i no it is used to tell the service provider the location of the phone but that can be done on any phone, i mean i just have to call my operator and ask him where i am and he'll tell me. whats different about positioning? also, is there any site from which i can send requests to my phone for positioning? i mean from the internet can i find out where my phone is if i send a positiong request and the phone accepts it?

Since it is based on GPRS, is it possible to have it on my nokia 6600? i mean through a downloadable software or similar stuff?
