1GIG MMC Card HELP Plz !

Hi i am going to be buying a 1gig MMC for my Nokia 6600 mobile phone soon, possibly on tuesday.. Which one should i buy?.

I currently have a Kingsmax 128mb (WHICH ID RECCOMEND ALL NOT TO BUY !). It can have files transfered over to it, and displays them and plays them fine (ie. mp3 player works great) butit cannot install ANY files from the phone on the memory card, so when trying to say install a .sis game, 'ERROR' followed by 'FIL CORRUPTED' followed by Phone Crashing....

That card cost me 60, and i am still extreamly pissed off that i got a bad one 😞. So if someone could help me get a good 1gig memory card that CAN install items onto it and be used as a REAL memory card, and also, will a larger mmc card slow down my phone ?.

I have a PQI 128 mmc which is fine, but it definately slows it down,i would imagine a 1 Gig mmc would be really slow.

I have a Topram 1GB MMC that I got off ebay and it's not slow at all. I am using a 6620 though...

I have several MMC cards ranging from my first 16MB card to my new 1GB card. Most of them are SanDisk, but I also have a few Memorex, Crucial, and RiData. The 1GB card is a RiData that I got from newegg for about $160 to my door.

As for access times, I've seen no diference between the diferent brands on cards of the same size or cards of diferent size but same brand. Obviously it takes longer to write 1GB of data then 16MB, but I didn't figure that was what you were refering to... If you care that much, I'd be happy to give you some perfmon data you could look at. I'd suspect if you've had cards that act slow they probably have some defects in them, or the device is not happy with the filesystem you have on the card. I have mp3 players, an ipaq 5555, calculator, 6620 that all use mmc and I know that if I format a card to fat32 and put it in my calculator, that the calculator will slow to a crawl.

...things to thinkabout anyway, let me know if you want more info.

Hi man! DO you have the card now? WHat's your experience with the card?

I realized that, if you have lots of little files... the performance will go down...

I had 550 MMS on my Inbox and 770 MMS on Sent in my phone memory and the phone was really too slow...

For deleting them, it took 6secs for each msg deleted... :frown:

If you have big files... I think there's no problem at all..

I think this issue is related to FAT FS ..

Does 6600 uses FAT32 in both FS or it uses FAT16 or 12??
