Hello Mates is it possible to get skins/themes on n.gage like on nokia 6600? I hope it works, when you know how to do it please give me some links and a step by step info how to change my skin/theme on n-gage. thnx mike 😊
New skins/themes on n-gage?
Theme support is not in Series 60 v1.xx (which the N-Gage uses). Nokia 6600 uses v2, and does have it. And no there is no way of retro-fitting it. Some third party options are available, but they're not the same. Look at SmartLauncher.
i heard its possible once in a forum but dont know how =(
Given it's an OPerating System thing, and you can;t chance v1 to v2 (itr's not just a case of Flashing) I very much doubt you can run native 66500 themes directly.
look evan i v installed a skinchanger and a 2nd 2 now when i change skins in menu i got 6 colors (red, blue, orange, purpur, green, pink) before i had just purpur green and blue. how is it possible? please help me i want got more colors i can send u a screenshot when u dont belive me. please write back (i just want other colorthems (standart was blue. i like eg. yellow)
You must be talking about PaletteExtender. It only reveals colour schemes previously hidden, but doesn't add any new ones.
No new colour schemes can be added to the N-Gage than what already exists in the phone (and all those will PaletteExtender show).
Colour palettes are not the same thing as Themes, which is a more advanced customization feature in phones using Series 60 2.x (or "Series 60 Platform, 2nd Edition", as Nokia marketing people like to call it nowadays).
The N-Gage is based on Series 60 1.2 ("1st Edition"😉 and has no Themes support.
Look into programs like SmartLauncher for the N-Gage, instead. You'll find it in the shop.
is it possible to make a yellow color palette? i hope
there was a project called thermizer about trying to do themes for symbian 6.1 i think, http://www.symbianthemes.com/
dunno why i cant download it, and erm is it possible that i can upgrade n.gage to Series 60 2.0? i dont know if it is somethink with warez when yes. sorry. hope u can help me =) mikka
No, you cannot upgrade the N-Gage from Series 1.2 to Series 2.0.
No, it is not possible to create a yellow colour palette on your own (Nokia would have to do that & release a new firmware release with it & I suspect they're not going to).
Just to clarify everything here, since apparently people didn't understand N/A's post.
(1) "Themes" are in Series 60 2.0, and are not in S60 1.2. The N-Gage (and QD) are S60 1.2 devices, and always will be. Nokia will not make S60 2.0 for the N-Gage series, therefore there is no way to update the firmware on an N-Gage to Series 60 2.0.
(2) There is a tool called PaletteExtender (aka pExtender) that unlocks existing palettes in Series 60 phones - usually there are only three palettes visible. Running pExtender unlocks three more (usually - depends on the phone). I have not heard of any way to _create_ new palettes with any tools. What you see is what you get.
(3) Your best hope for themes would be Themerizer, as someone mentioned above. Last I heard is that it's still under development, and it will be ready when it's ready. Apparently the process of implementing themes on S60 1.2 is fairly involved and error-prone (ie, crashing phones and the like).
I doubt that the developers want to release something that "sort of works", because then they will get one million emails like this: "ur prog sux, i didnt read ur dox nd it crashed my phone an i lost my warez, i hate u and ur dog"
[EDIT]: looks like N/A beat me to #1 and 2 there 😊
Themrizer won't theme your phone ... it will just change the palette, wallpaper and icons ... Things that can be done manualy or with an app like smartprofiles ...

There is also a software company that has made an app for the P800 called Magic Themes which enables the P800 to have real themes support. I e-mailed the developers a while back about any possibilities of porting the program over to S60, but they said they didn't have any such plans at that time. If you all send them an e-mail as well, perhaps they'd consider it then, if the demand is high enough...

C'mon start flooding their mail box! 😃
Just want to show you how I use smartprofiles to 'skin' 😉
Got a new desktop for every other profile, included are my general, silent and headphone profile.
It's very cool to see your desktop completely change when you insert the headphone 😊 (my profile changes from general to headphone when I plug the headphone in and smartprofiles reacts on this change to change palette and wallpapper among other things.)

I have used smart profiles before on my 6600 and it can be a very diverse app. Like changing themes and screensavers depending on the profile selected.
However this used on the N-Gage QD does not work as well as the 3650, 6600 or 7650 because of the lack of different colour schemes available.
Cheers for mentioning it though, because Im sure a number of people out there are not aware of it.

So does it work on Nokia 3660? Id like to buy that app if it does.
Should do...
Also Extended Profiles does the same job...

Trigenix was the only program for earlier series 60 devices that totally changed the phones UI. Since merging their product with T-Mobile UK's Screen Styles it no longer became available to consumers. I used to have the sis file saved on my pc and of course once I got rid of my 3650 I deleted it.
