6600 Hanging

I recently purchased a Nokia 6600 and have found the phone to be trouble free EXCEPT approximately every two days the menu key stops functioning ie when you press the button quickly or hold it down the phone does nothing. All the other buttons are working correctly.

To solve the problem I have to turn the phone off then back on and all works OK. Went to a Nokia service centre who told me that he would have to reset the phone, however, if I then restored the data from my PC then the problem could occur again...
Any ideas ? 😮

Leaving apps running in the background can cause this problem by overloading the rom.
Close all open apps by holding down the menu button and press 'c' on the ones you have finished with (or just exit them properly after use).

Hope its as simple as this for you.

I am actually always closing the apps and making sure that none are left open. Yesterday I downloaded the freeware program for closing apps and also did a soft format of the phone, will let you know if formatting has solved the problem. One thing I have noticed is that the phone is running much quicker, ie there was a noticable pause when loading the menu before, this is much quicker after the format.....

Sorry it took a long time in getting back to you. The freeware program is called: Switcher

Also the problem with the hanging is resolved, nothing to do with formatting the phone. I have enabled the lock feature on the phone and occasionally this app appears to crash. The work around is to try to unlock the phone, if the menu botton stops working, lock the phone again, then unlock and hey presto the button works. Simple fix but no need to turn phone on and off !!!
