Hi!
I really hope that someone here can help me!
I got my nokia 7610 phone today and have spent the whole day transferring small mp3s to the phone for use as a ringtone.
However, i dont know if im doing something wrong but i CAN'T manage to get a good quality sounding ringtone!!! i know its probably cos of the mono output, but some of u guys say that u've got amazing sounding ringtones!
So could someone PLEEEEEAAAAASSSSEEEE tell me what the best format (mp3, aac, amr etc) and encoding (bitrate, frequency, which program etc) i should use to get the best out of these ringtones!
I'm desperate for your help.....anyone!
Thanks
😊

Hi!
I too use mp3's on my phone as ringtones, and I found that the quality depends alot on the song. The different tones in a song will determine for a great part how 2 equally encoded songs will sound different from eachother.
I have cut several guitar solo's from rock songs to use on my phone, and I must say that they sound pretty good. Alot of regular MP3's (especially ones with people singing in it)n don't sound so good though. The sound is often scratchy and not so clear (like a radio with bad reception)
Note that the appreciation of the quality of a song is also very personal. What might sound good to one person may sound bad to another. It's all about what you expect to hear, and what you are used to (look at me being all filosophical and stuff 😃)
I do think mp3 is the best way to get good quality sound though. If you want to listen to actual songs, MP3 is probably the way to go. For my Mp3's I use a bitrate of 128 kbps, but I dont think a higher bitrate will sound better on your phone. The main problem is probably in the mono speaker, like you said.
