I still haven't found a solution how to transfer files to your phone with Nokia PC SUIT.
When I connect the phone to my fathers computer I get a little IR-button in the traybox, and if i click on that one i then can select wich files i wanna send to the phone.
But on the computer i use now i don't have a icon to drag the files to, like i did with my fathers computer. I guess it's because XP dosen't use the correct drivers to my ir-port, or something like that.
Any solutions on this problems? Can you transfer file on another way?

yeh right click on file and select 'send to infra red recipient' that should do it..

I would, if i could, I can't make that selection. It seems like XP dosen't understand that I have a working IR. It works great to connect to the phone with Nokia Pc Suite, but everything else dosent work, i don't have a IR-icon in the traybox, and i can't send files try "my computer"
I have a Omnibook 6000. Anyone know if there is a problem with the defaultdrivers?

For file transfer to my phone, I use infra-red with Windows XP.
When you turn on infra-red on the phone and point it at the infra-red module connected to the PC, Windows XP should place an icon on the desktop, which represents the connection.
To send files to the phone, simply drag and drop them on top of that icon. I don't use Nokia's Data Suite, because you don't need it for simply sending and receiving files.
On top of that, it doesn't really work with XP; and no, I'm not starting a debate or discussion for people to say that they have it working....on installation, the software says it is not compatible and not guarenteed to work.
Hope that helps. 8)
Yes, I know. I'm also transfer files to the phone on this way, but, not on this computer, because is total fucked up 😉
But, do u know any other ways to transfer files to the phone, so i don't have to change computer everytime. Maybe some desktop program? Because I haven't found a solution to transfer files in Nokia PC Suite?

Ok, it sounds like your computer isn't recognising an infra-red connection.
Two things to check, firstly can you confirm that the infra-red hardware is recognised by the computer in the device manager?
Secondly, (I think you've answered this one) you have successfully used the IR on the phone before, haven't you? In which case, it's a problem with the computer finding the IR device, rather than a problem with the phone.
check your device managar to see if the infrared is detected by the computer
if not find the driver and install the driver onto ur computer
or maybe you can your setting maybe you disabled ur infrared
The computer has no problems to found the IR, it's in the device manager, and i have no problems to sync the phone with Nokia PC Suite.
The only problem is, that the "ir-icon" in the traybox not exist, and i can't send files with "Send to" in "My computer"
Hums, strange. But, do u guys know if you can transfer file with Nokia PC Suite?
Suggestion: Try running as Administrator and see if that makes a difference.
I already runnig as a Administrator 😉 Strange as hell 😉
But hum, do u know any other desktop program who you can use to send files to the 7650, some kind of suite program, like Nokia PC Suite?
Because i almost have tried everything to get that "ir-icon" :/
Sorry, don't know of any other program.
If you're running as Administrator (and I'm not going into why that's not a good idea!), try running under a different account and see if it makes a difference. Windows is strange like that!

Have you looked in the control panel for IR, or Wireless Link? In there, there should be a checkbox which dictates whether the IR icon appears in the system tray when IR activity is found?
Good luck.

My take on the IR.
Apart all these software problems (I didnt have much of them anyway). The only other problem I have had is actually getting the connection to last for long... I have to keep the phone and the MA600 right next to eachother and keep a magazine on top to cancel external light... and even then it is mighty intermittent... it works only STRAIGHT ON... even a small degree of deviation and puff!!!..
Anybody got any suggestions... (except telling me to get bluetooth 😉)

I had very similar problem. Try changing the drivers, it worked for me. I found some old drivers that even weren't written for the same version of the HW, but I replaced the original ones anyway and it worked... surprisingly I must say. 😉
Try www.driverguide.com U/P: drivers/all.
Try this "known issue" in the Nokiqa 7650 PC Suite txt file:
Windows 2000: To be able to use infrared to transfer files between
your Nokia 7650 and
the PC, go to Control Panel and select Wireless Link. In the Wireless
Link File Transfer
tab check the Allow others to send files to your computer using infrared
communications.
