I have had a 6600 for about five months now and am on my third handset, it just keeps screwing up...Freezing keypad, "software problems" and general probs, I know its advance on most but it's not up to Nokia's usual standard.
After my whining I still ike it and so I have two questions;
1. Using a belkin dongle for bt but as with most people on this site cannot get Pc suite to work with it, is it really worth me buyng a usb cable so that I can use it? for backing up numbers and such (dont really know what it does as never got it running) and if I do get the cable will that guarantee it to work????
2. Was VERY disappointed to find out that it wont play MP3 but until that gets sorted followed advice in this site and got GoldWave (as pc suite wont work)
to convert files for ringtones etc.......what is the best type to convert them to size wize? and quality wize?
Will the 6600 ever play MP3???
for all those who post advice, many thanks.
Ben 😃
1. There is no USB cable for the 6600, I'm afraid. You have to use Bluetooth or infrared. Make sure you have the latest version of PC Suite for the 6600 (from http://www.nokia.com/phones/6600). And for the Belking dongle, drivers should be WidComm v1.3.* or v1.4.*. People also seem to have better success with the m-Router v3 beta on http://www.intuwave.com/index.php?page=105 rather than the older version with PC Suite.
2. You can install a separate MP3 player (MP3Go, UltraMP3, Read-M). Note that the output (even through the headset connector) with the 6600 is always mono-only.
There is a cable available, but its not official and you need to remove the battery to plug it in,which makes it complete rubbish as far as many are concerned.
There may be a few niggles with bt at first, but if you check and do as n/a suggests above you should be fine.
😊
Im really sorry to be dumb but I dont understand your technical speak, what do I have to do? Inever get beyond setting it up because once thats complete and Ive made my com choices I restart the computer and when I try to turn Pc Suite on it hstarts and then wont connect.
I have tried many a time using the advice on the forum and never got it to work, fancy putting it in stupid speak for me please???
Thank you :frown:
Ive been lucky enough,to not have any bluetooth connection issues at all,so im no expert, maybe you could invite some remote assistance from someone who is,if you are sure you have covered all the options in all the threads.
😊
ps,
N/A does make himself sound like a pro eh? Lol 😊

Well, my suggestion is to get a card reader. It is much faster transfering files and installing files and you caln also backup all your mmc files including system files etc.
😮
So....Still dunno what to do about the whole Pc Suite issue, the MMC card reader wont help with automatic calendar updates and such so if anyone can suggest how to get it working or if they have got theirs working with a Belkin Dongle and win xp then let me know so im not the only one.
My next question is probably an eaiser one to answer, which is, with the Nokia Theme studio v1.14 apart from the supplied piece of crap manual and tutorial, does anyone know of a website explaining how to use it, thought it would be self explainatory but Im having real trouble, probably the inbreeding in my family causing problems again!
If someone can put it into laymans terms for me that would be usefull also!
😃 😃 😃
I have a belkin dongle that works fine and connects to pc suite first, and every time,i did have to re install the bt software and pc suite a couple of times at first but since then ive had no problems.
Theme studio is a bit confusing at first, but once you have used it a few times all becomes clear, the best thing you can do really is to just keep making themes and gain experience from it,if there are any specific questions or problems then most, will have already been answered here already.
😊
ps Btw youre not using your bt dongle through a usb hub are you?

Just to check - you have activated bt on your PC AND PHONE and paired devices?? This must be done before you even think about pcsuite working.
I have paired them and they work fine, just Pc suite which does not.
I have my BT dongle plugged into a USB port what do you mean by "HUB"??
and why should I not do that if I am doing it?!?!?

Don't worry about a "HUB" if you are plugged into a port on your machine directly. Read and search the forums on this is best, but you can also try turning on or off the autoconnect port from my bluetooth places and then in the mrouter system tray item just keep clicking the different ports until you get a con. It's not that difficult. It may be useful to install the sdk. I don't know, I got it working in about 5 minutes and I only use a pc for troubleshooting so you should be able to get it work w/o too much trouble.
Does anyone know how to ged rid/change the nokia "hand shake" opening movie on nokia 6600 when the phone turn on ? Or at least know what & where the filename resides ? I suspect it's in z:\system but it's to risky.
There's nothing "risky" about drive-Z. It is ROM (Read Only Memory) and you can't touch/change it with any software on the phone.
Someone wanna tell me wot SDK is pls?
BennyGixxer wrote:Someone wanna tell me wot SDK is pls?
SDK stands for Software Development Kit. Often distributed to developers or programmers to build software applications for something, in this case, the nokia 6600....
