Nokia 6600, XP SP2 Bluetooth part II

26 replies · 21,586 views · Started 03 September 2004

I have never got the above combination workig with PC Suite (see previous problems: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/23469/)

However, I have a new Dell Inspiron 8600 with official XPSP2 and have been told by Nokia that it won't work - they are working on the problem. Anyone else in this boat? Any other thoughts on how to access my contacts on the phone other than PC Suite (I don't have infra red) :con?

I use PC Suite with Windows XP SP2 without any problems. I've used it since SP2 RC2 (and now with the release version). However, I use a newer version of PC Suite, as I use the version for the 7610.

One thing that might help is the m-Router 3 beta (instead of the older version that is part of the 6600 PC Suite): http://www.intuwave.com/index.php?page=105

That procedure will not help with Nokia PC Suite 6.1, 6.2, 6.3 or any future version either.

Nokia PC Suite 6.x uses a different mechansims for the connectivity between phones and the 6600 lacks that support.

The guide can help with the PC Suite for the 6600, though.

I had have a lot off problems with XP SP2 and Nokia PC Suite with my Nokia 6600.

Finally, I have solved it.

1) Bluetooth drivers. Not windigo blue manager 3.1b, the new generic bluetooth drivers from XP sp2 are OK

2) Install Nokia PcSuite, Nokia_6600_PC_Suite_110_en.zip

3) replace mroute (didnt connect nokia6600 with pcsuite), replace it with mRouter3Beta.exe

ALL are OK

thanks to all people

Hi All,

The mRouter3 solution solves the problem. I've managed to connect with it with no hassles!

Thanks

How do I replace mrouter with v3beta? when I install the mrouter version3 the old one that came with pcsuit for 6600 still opens and connects.
thanks

I had also a tough time and then I did what Mag2 suggested. removed the drivers that came with the BT dongle. Installed mrouter3beta. But my problems were not over. The device authentication kept failing and I kept on trying. (Was it because of my co-existent infrared device?) Suddenly the device was authenticated. I dont know how. I now its working fine. But the IR device is not listed in the mRouter. Will I have problem with IR now? Because one of my family members has Nokia 6610 which has no BT.
Thanks a lot to this forum and its members for helping me sort out. Nokia ppl should provide a sort of undocumented stuff where they can unofficially give round-about ways of sortin things out. They must be knwing these things i bet.

I had the same problems (Nokia, SP2 and PC Suite) and I solved them this way round:

-Downloaded the newest version of the PC Suite (not the 6.x, but the one for my Nokia)

-Installed it: now I had the same error "...failed...because the host is down or somewhat... ---------> Just try it 3 times, the error will be displayed but there will be a connection! Doesnt make much sense, but worked fine for me.

Greetings!

Well, I think I forgot to mention something important:

--In the Nokia Connection Manager (phone symbol in the systray), click on the bluetooth tab, maybe 2-3 times...

I know, my solution sound somewhat strange, but give it a try, bluetooth is kinda strange because you never know whats wrong... 😉
Greetings

You do not need to replace the old m-router. The new one (v3 beta) works together with the old one (for me at least....).

Hi all

I installed the mrouter3beta. And now have the following error whilst attempting to make a bluetooth connection:

Failed to connect to Left Hand of God
Reason: The requested address is not valid in its context Error Number: 80072741

I am running the following:

1. Windowx XP Pro
2. Nokia 6600
3. Belkin USB adapter

Somebody PLEASE save me.

I'm up and running.... First I downloaded and installed the M-Router 3 beta software. Then, I went to my startup folder and deleted "PCSuiteForNokia6600 Detect". I rebooted, started the M-Router 3 software and right clicked on the system tray icon for the M-Router. Click on "advanced settings" and "view" additional com ports. Select those as well and reboot again. Works fine now...let me know if that helps. WORD

Hi,

I would like to thank you all.
Since installation of Sp2, I didn't manage to connect my 6600 with Nokia PC Suite.

Read this thread, installed new version of mRouter and everything is working fine now.

Thank you very much for your help, guys 😉 😉

Yeah! :icon14:
It really works.
I did as YO YO YO suggested and it's working!

My config:
WinXP Pro SP2
Belkin Dongle
Nokia 6600 software v. 5.27

I used default drivers from Windows SP2. I managed to get it connected before with Widcomm drivers, but connection was reeeeeeaaally slow and unstable.
Now it connects in seconds and it's fast. Mrouter 3 is going in the right direction!
My bluetooth icon stays blue with white logo (not green logo) but mRouter still connects and PcSuite works with no problems.
Thanx everyone for helping.

guys no matter what methods i followed, what versions of drivers and updates i have downloaded...no matter of all my prayers to god.....my pc suite for 6600 will never connect via bluetooth (it did few times at the beginning but since a year nothing nada)....since that moment i have to use the IR to connect, which is kinda slow but HEY IT WORKS. I really dont understand why nokia made PC SUITE so unbelievable not compatible via BT. I know there are many ppl that have no problem...but i also know there are maaaaany ppl like me that no matter what we do and what advises we follow....PC Suite will just not connect to bluetooth.....

Sorry guys but I installed SP2 yesterday and after reading this thread I thought I had better see if I had the same problem, btu my phone connected and synchronised first time using the last version of PC Suite for the 6600, with the mRouter version that came with it, Widcom drivers and with phone firmware 3.49.1.
The only problem I had was that I can't backup, but then that started about 4 months ago before I installed SP2.

I installed SP2 yesterday also, but i removed all my Bt software first, then installed sp2,and then re installed all the old bt drivers and software, and it works absolutely fine.
I obviously cant say if i would have had a problem, but just thought i would share my results.

Maybe I haven't read all the solutions, but I had the problem I nothing would solve it... Nothing...

But then I turned my antivirus off, and it worked instantly...

So I thought that, "It can't be this easy" and turned it back on.

An again, nothing worked. Turned it off again and all of a sudden it worked
again.

So, maybe you could try that.

I appologize if this tip already has been shown. But maybe someone can find
it useful...
