Is That Right ?

Any Way Its Not A Very Good Phone ?

Hard to have many opinions, because it isn't available yet.

Anyway, improvements in it compared to most other Nokia Series 60 phones on the market today: it is a clamshell (flip phone), it has stereo sound and FM Radio, hot-swap memory card (RS-MMC), support for wireless (Bluetooth) QWERTY keyboard, integrated VPN client, integrated QuickWord and QuickPoint (MS Word, MS PowerPoint) viewer apps.

Hi i've got a 6260 had it over a week now and I think it's cool. My only issue is i it doesn't support bluetooth serial ports! (Im only bothered by this because I'd like to access the internet on it using my braodband connection rather that GPRS!)

It's a pretty good phone so far, with the following gripes

-Cannot pair with SE HBH-65. Tried for about 2 mins and gave up. Well it pairs up, but won't connect when a call comes in. Besides, Nokia insists on full-time BT connection, which means the headset runs out of battery after like 5 hours. Maybe it'll work better with a Jabra, or Nokia BT headset.

-Strange crash, when deleting characters from some contacts. No discernable pattern. Noticed when I was editing contacts imported from a 7600.

-Battery lasts about 1.5 days on moderate usage. Well I expected more.

I bought a 6260 and keep it only for 3 days. I think it's the cheapest plastic/casing that Nokia has EVER made for its phone. Even the cheapest phone has a better casing then it.
And talking about he camera, claiming itself to be 640X480, but that is only acheievable when you flip the display inside out (which means you have to stand perpendicular to the object you're taking).
If you use it in the webcam position, the max resolution is 320x480. There's no way one can cicrumvent this unless you use a 3rd party program. But since the internal camera program will autostrat when you flip the phone in video cam position, they will fight for the lens, and you end up have to forceflly termminate the internal camera program before you can use the 3rd party program.
That's about how miserable it is, not to mention the wobbling function keypads, and the poor craftsmanship of the seams around the display. Mind you, i'm a long term nokia fan, and tried everyway to defend for nokia before my 6260 experience.
I could only calm my anger after i changed to a 7610, knowing that i have to suffer from the mono output, lack of radio..... Nevertheless, the solid feel of the 7610 makes up for all the loss. I know mobiles these days are considered toys by many people, but i never imagine that any company could make a phone more "toy-like... and feel" then the 6260. Hand it over to child, and they will think that their lego feels better quality than such eyesore.

I agree: The casing looks and feels cheap and it IS cheap. The construction is not very solid, the flip was moving sideways even the first time i took the phone out of the box.

And what about usability? Series 60 phones are great because you can use them one-handed. Not the 6260: With flip open the buttons for the menu are on the flip. So you need either very long and strong handys or you have to use a different finger from your other hand to operate. With the flip turned around and closed, it is ok. But then you cannot use the camera.

I wonder why nokia did not do an updated version of the slider construction used in the 7650. This worked great. I think nokia should fire its designer: Most of the new phones are so ugly (Nokia 7610, 7680...) and look so cheap (6260, 6630). Motorola and samsung use metal a lot, nokia only on very rare occasions. Why

What is so great to make fotos with the flip half-opened. Camcorders are used this way because they are so bulky. No need to make taking photos more complicated on the phone?

Yes, the software is great but then again it is not much different from other series 60 phones.
