While sending a message the other day my phone froze in the sending process, after waiting for about two minuets I attempted to close the Messaging application, then kill the application using the SmartLauncher TaskManager application which i have installed on my phone.
After both failed to close the application i rebooted my phone using the said program, when the phone started again an error message saying "System Error: Phone" appeared and the phone rebooted itself again. Subsequently all my messages have been deleted from the Index file in the \system\mail folder. All the messages still remain in the corresponding 00001001_S\0 00001001_S\1 00001001_S\2 etc folders.
What I'm looking for is either an app (PC or symbian) which will compile the Index file from the files in each folder, or if someone cold tell me how the Index file is organized i would write my own.
I checked the Index file a few days before it was deleted and it was about 110 Kb in size, and i had 1004 messages between all the folders when it was deleted.
I understand that all the folders cannot be replaced as these are stored in the Index file itself, but if anyone knows of an application, script or otherwise that will put all the messages into one folder in, say My "Folders\Old" i would happily sort them out
Someone posted a simialar problem here ==> http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/6130/&highlight=Message+index
But he got no replys
Thanks
