Hello,

I thought it would be nice to start a new thread here which worries about apps that are confired to be running or not running since there are not many for the Sendo X.

I have a few apps up and running and I let you know. They are all FREEWARE if not they are marked not to be.

I post the SHAREWARE to be complete here.

Please post all the apps you have up and running and plz mark the PAYWARE.

Most of them or originally made for some Nokia (3650, 7650 and maybe others)

running:
Doom (does not run from mmc)
Switcher (running apps, changing between apps, process viewing and killing)
Cocktail (loads of cocktail recipes)
IPcalc (who needs it knows)
Fexplorer (Filemanager only minus, files cannot not be marked prob. next ver.)
Blacklist (Never get unwanted calls anymore) SHAREWARE
SmartProfil (Profil changing on time base) SHAREWARE
Torch (simply lights the display white)
AgileMessenger (AIM, ICQ, YAHOO, MSN)
Forward (extract files and more out of received message resend or save them)

installed but untested:
bemused
CrystallPlayer
Oggplay

not installable:
Spycall (designed for Nokia 6600 asks for SeriesProductID to be installed first)

I hope we will get a nice list of up and running progs.

Thanx for volunteering.

bruce.one

Not Installable
Frozen Bubble 0.92 - Asks for the SeriesProductID thing (whatever that is).

I have just installed a whole load of progs. I'll let you know how they work when I've tested them.

SpyCall won't run if you use the 6600 version, youhave to use the generic Series 60 / SX1 version. However, it's not very stable, and causes the Sendo X to miss every other call you get.

I've been helping the developers test it on my X, and they know about the problems and are working on fixing them.

Works:
FExplorer (ScreenShot does not work)
CPUMonitor
ScreenTaker
AutoLock
CellTrack
AppMan (SHAREWARE)
Contacts Manager (SHAREWARE)
HandyReminder (SHAREWARE)
RemoteS60 (SHAREWARE)
stICQ (SHAREWARE)
PowerTorch (SHAREWARE)
KeyLocker (SHAREWARE)
SeleQ (SHAREWARE)
ETI Camcorder (SHAREWARE)
YellowFTP (SHAREWARE)
HandySafe (SHAREWARE)
RepliGo (SHAREWARE)

Working
GoBoy (Free version with no sound - all the games I've tried so far are so fast that I can't play them)
Bounce
Card Deck
Triple Pop
Triz
Vexed
Doom (sometimes need a reset before the game will start)
Zombie Mansion (Java)
ReadM
Safe (Java)
FExplorer
Autolock
Torch

These are all freeware so far as I'm aware. If you know different please let me know.

Thanks - but the installer in Sendo Connect actually says that it cannot install the software because the SeriesProductID is "not installed". I don't actually know what that means or how to about installing it. I got the impression that it was a Nokia thing that is missing from the Sendo build.

It seems that we must get used to, that a third (if not a half!) of software don't will work on the Sendo this time!

Some apps are running, but without sound, like bounce or Space Impact?! (But the sound files ofthe apps alone are working well)

Pocket Counter - runs only on the phone itself (Free)
Bounce - without sound (Free)
Space Impact - without sound (Free)
SMS-Assistent - (Free)
EggClock - withou Sound, so not useful (Free)

Not working:

Klash - (Free)
S-Tris - (Free)
TomTom CityMap - !? (Shareware)
Bombz - like Minesweeper (Free)
Psiloc_irRemoteFull - (Free?)

Why do you say that? Everything I have tried has worked apart from Frozen Bubble.

The sound on Bounce works perfectly on my X.

I dont understand my sendo. Its on to way making me crazy. Because of missing sounds in most apps (also Pinball - the on board game), I want to make a "clear all" but after a backup to save all datta on PC suddenly sound was working again!? Exclusive pinball :con?

Frozen Bubble works fine with the new fw

For games (no shareware) the coolest ones (all of which work perfectly) seem to be from MGS:-

MGS Silver Ball
MGS Mobile VR Pool
MGS Karting
MGS Cobra Attack
MGS Steel Warrior
MGS The Five
MGS Mine Field
MGS Constellation Othello
MGS Tetrix
MGS Krabs Mission
MGS Power Dart
MGS Treasure Mine

and their latest: Mad Macs which is brilliant: a 3 D tank battle with pandas & ducks driving the tanks. Cool stuff

Additionally, the latest version of Smartmovie has been tweaked to work much better with the Sendo X

Other good stuff:-

Tennis Addict (Mexacto Games)
Prince of Persia - Sands of Time (This is brilliant!)
XIII (not bad at all!)

Hmm, interesting. I checked some MGS games before the new FW:
Karting works with bad sound and bad controlling.
Tetrix did not work.
Steelwarrior did not work.

Hi proandi,

Just to be sure I double checked Tetrix & it is fine, Steel Warrior is also fine but works in landscape mode (phone on it's site which is a bit weird to control) and MGS Karting works (but as you said the sound is distorted) and MGS Karting Plus (which I didn't mention before) also seems to have sound problems but plays well otherwise.

Where can I get the MGS stuff from?

I wish Smartmovie worked, especially as I have a nice 256mb card to play with

I'd like to say that you can get Sendo X software from the Sendo shop (maybe someday soon!), in the meantime you can get them from Handango; the following links all go to versions of the software that work on the Sendo X:-

And Smartmovie does work, in fact lonelycatgames made some specific changes fr the Sendo X in one of the most recent version (2.46, see here: http://www.lonelycatgames.com/mobile/smartmovie/smartmovie.html#shots in the Version history link at the top). You do need to ensure you have the latest version (1.97) of the loader (which I believe downloads with the game)

I downloaded the latest version of smartmovie and find that playback is jerky and the sound clicks a lot.
What settings are you using to get smooth playback?

Hi Locutus,

Smartmovie settings:-
Video: Xvid encoder, 112kbps bitrate
Audio: Force mono, Frequency 16000Hz Bitrate 16kbps Lame MP3 codec

It's not jerky but there is a slight clicking sound in the audio as you say. I tried boosting the volume by 200%, which is a bit better but it'd be nice if the clicking went away. Perhaps a further tweak in Smartmovie?

The clicking sound is because of sendo's bad playback of AMR sound. It should be (i say 'should'😉 be fixed in the next firmware. Let's hope it is fixed.

why force mono? the sound in stereo is STEREO and doesn't give any difference in size. a file of 700kb gave only 2-3kb more with stereo.

Jumping the gun slightly, but I emailed Makayama software who make the DVD -> mobile ripping/encoding/playing software so you can watch DVDs on your mobile easily, to ask about a Sendo X version. They have a beta already and expect full release in mid-October. The demo version is free, but the full version costs (not much I think). Site is www.makayama.com

I have no idea of playback quality though.
Question for people - what frame rate do you get Smartmovie playback on the X (when both SmartMovie and the X are working!) ? Is it watchable (e.g. 25 frames per second)? or is it really slow? Can you really watch a clip properly with stereo sound out of the X speakers?

The frame rate looks very bad on sendo with smartmovie. Thats means 80kbps or more seems to much and the film becomes 'slow', unsteady, not smooth - looking like 2...5 stills per second. The picturs itself are okay.

On the other hand , with less kbps the motion becomes better - the picturses becomes rough. I tested some settings. For me 56kbps is useable compromise.

I have a quaestion- Why the buggery are people so obsessed with smartmovie? It's having troubles with the sendo phone true, but heres the thing- why not just use real one player? I've got my movies completely watchable at a size of about 50mb per movie with video quality more than watchable. Audio isn;t perfect but still easy to listen to. I just use the nokia multimedia converter (free) to convert into the .3gp format.

It's great. only problem is the movies are portrait as in real one you cant change it but theres probably software out there that plays these files in landscape, I just haven't looked.

I agree with you! And like you wrote, only problem is the missing landscape mode. Now I try to get running the pvplayer on my sendo. this apps plays 3gp AND have a fullscrenn mode, too. My old phone (SX1) was delivered by my provider with this apps build in. Now I try to transfer it to my Sendo...
It seems to be the cheapest and easierst and best way at the moment.
