What does the display icon of a vertical arrow with a U looking line underneath it mean? It recently popped up in the center between the signal bars and battery life meter. I can't seem to find what it means in the manual or anywhere else for that matter. Thanks in advance.

I think you mean the indicator that means there are messages waiting to be sent in the outbox.
See the attached pic. It is also described in the User's Guide, if I'm not mistaken; you might want to actually read it to learn more about your phone.
