hello everyone. I downloaded FExplore from my N6600 phone. but when i try to open it, it does not self-install. I don't have usb bt or mmc card that's why i tried to download the file directly from my phone. I tried to open it as attachment (renamed file to .jpg) but still it couldnt be installed. Is there a way to install it from my phone? i searched for tips in the internet but i couldnt find any. thanks so much.
bw, i tried this http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/foru...&threadid=19280 but i got when i opened the file in attachment, i got the error "unable to open. object type not supported". So i figured this tip doesnt work for N6600.

When U attached it as a jpg on AN EMAIL, did you return its file extension back to .SIS?

actually i did not. but just now i tried to rename it back its original name with the .sis extension ans when i opened the attachment again i still got the same error, (Unable to open. Object type not supported). Why is this so?Does this mean there is no workaround in N6600?

U sure u followed this?
You can install fexplorer this way:
1. Get the SIS file onto your computer
2. Rename it to fexplorer.JPG
3. Transfer it to your MMC using the card reader, to the Images folder
4. Open "Messaging>New Message", and select "E-mail message"
5. It will ask for a Mailbox to be defined. Here enter any junk values that you want and save the settings (neat trick )
6. After saving the settings, you can create an E-mail message. Here, choose the "Options>Attachments" and "Insert>Image". This will allow you to choose the image that you want to insert as an attachment. Browse to your MMC's Images folder and select fexplorer.JPG file that you copied earlier.
7. After the attachment is added, select it and choose "Options>Open".
8. The operating system recognizes that it's actually a SIS file and installs FExplorer!!
Using FExplorer, you can install all your favorite apps after transfering them to your MMC.
yes, i did. a couple of times. But still i got the same error. Actually i downloaded the fexplore.sis file using my phone (so i skipped steps 1-3)and from there i tried to install it using the instruction above. Have you tried the above steps using N6600?Coz i thought maybe the steps above only work for certain phones.

Hi, I'm a bit confused at what you are trying to do, you said you downloaded FExplorer "FROM" your 6600, FExplorer should be sent/downloaded "TO" your phone. :con? If the FExplorer.sis is already "on" your phone (in your inbox) then all you have to do is open the file and it will prompt you if you want to install it.
If not yet, have you tried using infrared? even without the PC suite you can send/download a file from a PC to your phone via infrared (if case you don't have a BT or MMC card reader). If you don't have any mode of sending to your phone try to download thru wap or thru email (you will need to set-up an email account on your 6600), once received, when you open the .sis file, you will then be prompted to install the apps, no need to a very confusing process such as renaming the file into .jpg 🙄

Well, it's either the FExplorer file you downloaded is corrupt or there's something wrong with your phone.
